Clarefield Copse Wild Camping

Me gustó Beautiful, quiet and close to nature. My daughter loved the rope swing. Toilets were clean. Steve (owner/manager) was very friendly

No me gustó Both showers were unfortunantly without hot water.
Due to the heatwaves we unfortunantly weren't allowed to buy firewood for campfire (not their fault).

Me gustó We love the space and relaxed nature at Clarefield. The pitches are very large with great space between each pitch. We had plenty of space to have a game of rounders and not disturb anybody else. It is our second time back and I know we will be going again next year.

No me gustó The toilets and showers are basic but this is a seasonal wild camping site so you should expect this. If you need shower and toilet blocks this is not the place for you.
Lots of dogs off lead and our boy is nervous but there is plenty of space so I just kept him on lead around our area.

Me gustó Lovely relaxing quiet campsite with lots of space to pitch up. Campers aren't on top of each other. Very spacious. The toilets and showers are basic but a bonus. Lovely scenery with horses in the next field and sheep and pheasants. The guy who came round to check if we were ok everyday was called Steve and he was very friendly and helpful. Would come again

No me gustó No access to the bins from the camping field. You either have to walk out of the campsite or drop your rubbish off when you drive out of the campsite. Also the driveway down to the campsite is bumpy with pot holes and bricks.

Me gustó Large open spaces with freedom to pitch with friends and groups with little restrictions.
Great space for all to roam, everyone was friendly, respected others and didn’t make you feel like you shouldn’t be there (like you find in some campsites where all people do is moan about others!) we took our 15 month old puppy for first time camping and there were a couple of times she broke free from excitement (and a dodgy rope) but people were always so kind and understood - made it all so easy and relaxed. (And she actually did really well!)
Owner (once we met them after a day of being on site) was really friendly and welcoming.

No me gustó Toilets could do with a little upkeep and more needed.
A little more information would be nice - unclear what was drinking water for example- we took our chances, where we could dispose of rubbish - it was even quite unclear where we could pitch up - it was lovely to have the freedom but we were worried about getting it wrong (although it did become apparent that all was quite relaxed)
There were some lovely walks from site but we found them by chance so a bit more local information would be good.

Me gustó Beautiful site, pitch where you like on huge 3 huge fields with great views from all. V friendly site manager. Good value for money.

Me gustó Quietness, simplicity, showers worked well. Better than average toilets.
Large open area so visitors could spread out.

No me gustó Would be useful having warm/hot water in the washing up area

Me gustó Easy to get to and lots of space to choose to pitch. The site manager was friendly and someone popped around each night to make sure that everything is okay.
The sinks by the toilets are great for washing up in and they’re are linked to the mains so can be used as drinking water too.

Me gustó Location, friendliness, space.
Toilets were clean.

No me gustó The facilities were a little too minimal for me.
There was no separation of personal washing from washing up space.
This space consisted of only one sink with cold water. (There was not a problem with queuing, just a bit minimal for me)
