Morelands Copse Camping

Me gustó I liked the outdoor kitchen once it had been tidied at the weekend. The grass had been mowed at the weekend too. Before it was a bit wild. The portaloo was kept clean.

No me gustó The photos did not match up to the field we were allowed to camp on.
Opening and closing 2 gates to get onsite is annoying. Only 1 portaloo and a composting toilet. The shower is not really usable. The kitchen was messy and abandoned when we arrived. The gas stove was empty when we arrived, and the overall area felt unmaintained.

Me gustó We enjoyed the stillness of the area, the proximity of the city but still far enough that we felt like it was in the middle of nowhere. It was nice that we could pitch up anywhere since they weren't marked

No me gustó I think this place just needs to be upgraded a bit!

Cut the grass, new buckets for the shower, maybe have a working tap would have been nice but the hose worked okay too

No me gustó The crown has slipped and pictures don’t really represent what you get today

1 (2) ish toilets. No shower. Price doesn’t match what you get, sorry. We left disappointed

Me gustó This is such a quirky campsite with loads of potential. We specifically chose it because we wanted our children, aged 7 and 9, to enjoy back-to-nature, off-grid camping. It was nice to choose our own spot rather than camping in marked pitches.

The location is good too – it feels very rural, but there are pubs, garden centres and shops within a short drive. Having a picnic bench available near where we pitched up was really useful too.

The portaloo was clean and there was always plenty of toilet paper. I also appreciated the clear signage explaining that fires weren't permitted because of the prolonged dry weather. Completely understandable and sensible.

There was a phone number around the campsite to contact if needed. You find out own pitch and no one to meet you which was no problem for us.

There are some genuinely interesting and unusual features around the site and woodland, and I can imagine how brilliant this place could be with a bit of attention and maintenance.

No me gustó Unfortunately, the site didn't really match the impression given by the photos and felt overdue some TLC.

The biggest disappointment was the woodland area. We'd been excited about letting the children explore fairly independently, but there were bottles/containers of chemicals, toilet bases, tools and various other items left around, so I didn't feel comfortable allowing them to roam without constantly supervising them.

There were also two lorry backs containing various items and what looked as though it might once have been a stage, although it wasn't clear whether any of this was intended for guests to use. There was a forge and an unusual hanging frame in the woodland which could potentially be really fun if activities were running, but instead there were tools and equipment left around. The grass was also very long with ragwort growing amongst it.

I'd particularly been looking forward to trying the quirky outdoor shower, but in reality it consisted of a rusty bucket, pulley and shower curtain. I actually loved the idea, but the amount of rust put us off using it.

We also couldn't find any animals to pet as suggested, and the lake/pond wasn't accessible from the campsite.

A simple welcome text before arrival would have made a big difference – just explaining where things were, what could and couldn't be used and how the site worked. We spent quite a lot of time wondering whether we'd missed something.

There was also surprisingly loud bass music and lasers visible in the distance until around 1am, which was from Boomtown Festival. I appreciate this was almost certainly outside the campsite's control.

It's a real shame because the basic concept is genuinely cool. I wasn't looking for luxury – the natural, off-grid, slightly eccentric experience was exactly what attracted us. With some clearing, maintenance, better information for guests and attention to the areas children can access, I think this could be a fantastic little campsite.

Grass left far too long for an area in amongst livestock & wildlife . I would check when grass was cut before even considering staying again , horrible little blood suckers !

Me gustó A lovely campsite ran by a lovely lady. It had a really nice outdoor kitchen and campfire area for us to hang out in the evenings. Nice pubs nearby. Beautiful sunsets

Stunning surroundings, calm environment and amenities for your needs.

My first visit to Morelands, myself along with my 3 children and we had an absolute amazing time and have booked again in August.

Lovely woodlands, great for a walk or hang out in the large natural craft hut.Some quirky places and things great for photos!

Along with swinging egg chair, little games and a fire pit area to use.

Little honesty shop available - tins, wipes, chocolate and sweets etc

Choice of toilets, easy accessible and clean. ( We used the one on the field)

We had the pleasure to meet the founder/ owner. Who was a lovely lady. Gave us history of the land and insight into the charity behind the proceeds.

Overall an absolute gem for our family and looking forward to going back.🏕️
