Liked Pub, location, service, welcome.
Pitches very spacious.
Good price. We've been to worse sites for much higher rate.
Disliked Toilets and showers need some attention. They are clean but outdated.
A bit noisy with kids at times, but can be expected at this time of year.

Liked Location.
Disliked Very poor facilities. Toilets and shower are just a portaloo of with not even functioning locks. Although described as basic, for the price we paid it should have given more. The site is very basic and that is stated in the description, although we were surprised at just how basic it was. The facilties were not clean and fortunately there were few people on site. I dread to think what it would be like if we'll populated.
It is also situated within hearing range of the airport and there is constant noise from aircraft taking off.

Liked Bar area was large and spacious.
Disliked Despite this being a Friday evening and being also very busy, the bar closed before 6m, leaving many families short of entertainment.
The toilet facilities were compost type, which although clean, did not appeal to all, particularly young children.
The only alternative was in the bar .
The showers, which although worked fine, were not very comfortable to use, with no disabled facilities (ie, seating etc). There were no cubicles for private washing for those who did not wish to use the shower.
This site was definitely not value for the price paid, being in effect just an open field and not many steps away from a wild camping experience.
Also there was no reception, as such and this gave the impression that it was an unmanaged site.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to give your feedback. I’m sorry our description of a rural tranquil site wasn’t made clear enough prior to booking. The coffee barn, although fully licensed is open daily for home cooked food and drink. Occasionally, and during school holidays we open late on a Friday and Saturday evening. As a small rural family business it is not sustainable for us to keep our coffee shop open late every weekend. We also choose to keep the site peaceful and promote a back to nature experience and appreciate this may not have suited you.

Disliked Group with large tents had generator running until 11.30 pm. Thought that site management (pub staff?) would police it but no. I had to request, politely that they switch it off.

Liked Layout of site, lakes, local wildlife and friendly welcome. Nicely located 20 mins walk from pleasant pub, although thi is the only one in the village.

From the manager: You came to an unmaned site as stated in the booking...but I am there everyday to clean.. if you could be more helpful and state what you expect out of a shower other then the shower, somewhere to hang things and a seat or stool that would be great , plus we don't exactly charge the earth! We'd be happy to make it all singing and dancing but that would then come at cost to campers.... at no point do we state we have WiFi 🤷♀️.. If you don't have anything constructive to say can I please ask you don't leave reviews on people's sites, pointless reviews like this due to your own lack of reading can have a major effect on people's business'. Many thanks Vicky
