Weardale Retreat shepherd's hut (hot tub)
Liked Everything!
The shepherd's hut was set up perfectly. It was a wonderful way to end our holiday.
And there was lots of little personal extras that just made it all that more special.
There was a BBQ instead of a hob/oven but there was also a toaster, electric egg boiler, microwave and coffee machine.
The woodfired hot tub was a lovely way to relax in the evening. It's definitely on my wish list now! 😊
And then of course you have the open fire outside (with marshmallows courtesy of our lovely host Carol).
I can't recommend this place enough. We will be back...
Disliked Having to leave and go back to work!! 😁

Powered grass campsite (adults only, sloping)
Liked Great quiet site. Lots of space on pitches. Good/clean facilities. Even has a wee shop/cafe on site...which was closed when we were there (out of season).
Disliked Watch out for the rabbit holes in the grass. Twisted my ankle quite badly when stepping out of van (hoIe was hidden underneath awning floor). Bring a torch at night to avoid the holes.

Liked Great location. Stayed 4 nights and walked, kayaked and cycled.
Very busy site. But everyone respected the 10pm quiet time.
Lots of space for non electric pitches.
Toilets clean but dated.
Disliked We arrived mid week and the site was quiet. But by Friday afternoon it was pretty much full. Some of the electric pitches were well laid out with lots of space in between. We were very lucky with ours. But others such as pitches 1 to 6 we're cramped especially as most on these pitches had a caravan, awning and car!
I really think it could do with defined areas for pitches. Some campers were pitching right next to other campers. Definitely not respecting the 6m rule.
Toilets were very run down. But clean.

Liked Site well laid out. Lots of space between pitches. Facilities clean.
Disliked Not enough shower/toilet facilities. We were lucky that the site was quite empty when we visited.

Liked Everything! :-)
Pitch size, facilities and distance apart was fantastic. I've never been on a site with so much room between vans before.
The welcome pack was extensive, and meant that we already had walks/cycles all planned before we arrived.
The showers were a wee walk away, but always clean and empty (even though most pitches were used) - So did not mind the walk.
Our dog loved the free dog run field and we loved the doggy pamper shed for muddy dogs after our great walks exploring the countryside.
We even got an Indian takeaway delivered to us on the final night! :-)
Disliked Nothing...
