  • Adults-only site with views over the Firth of Forth to Edinburgh
  • Beach and coast path a mile away; St Andrews 25 minutes' drive
  • Well-maintained dog-friendly site with well-equipped recreation room
What a fabulous Fife location – Woodland Gardens Caravan Site is on the slopes of Largo Law above the village of Lower Largo, with stunning views over the Firth of Forth to Edinburgh and beyond. No one can ever guarantee good weather in Scotland, of course, but a stay here gives you a better chance than in most places as the East Neuk of Fife is known as the driest area in the country. The region’s fishing villages and coast paths have led to it being known in some quarters as ‘Scotland’s Cornwall’ – and that’s surely an enticing prospect… This peaceful site is set up for adults only, and it prides itself on maintaining high quality through great attention to detail. That meticulous approach applies throughout, from keeping the gardens neat and tidy to making sure the toilets and showers (in separate areas for ladies and gents) are always nice and clean. Facilities here have been well thought out too: guests have access to a washing-up area, a launderette and a recreation room that’s got a pool table, a large TV, a book swap and some board games and puzzles. You’ll be able to see the sea from the site, but surely you’ll want a closer look… It’s about a mile from the park to Lower Largo beach and the Fife Coastal Path. Leven (10 minutes’ drive) and Anstruther (20 minutes) are a couple of handy local places to have in mind for shops and places to eat, and it’s a 25-minute drive to St Andrews.

What customers say

Top-rated, adults-only site lauded for spotless cleanliness, tranquil vibe, and welcoming owners. Guests love the well-kept facilities, including pristine restrooms with thoughtful touches. Recreation room's a hit. Great for exploring Fife coast; walk nearby, easy transit access. Minor notes on compact sites/dated fixtures, but overwhelmingly a superb, relaxing getaway.

Liked We absolutely loved our stay here. The owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming and really make you feel at home. They always take the time to help and have great recommendations, whether it’s for restaurants or things to see and do in the surrounding area.

The sanitary facilities were spotless, spacious and even heated, which was especially lovely in bad weather. The pitches are a great size with plenty of space, and small hedges between them provide a nice sense of privacy without feeling closed off.

What we particularly liked was the size and atmosphere of the campsite. It’s small, cosy and peaceful rather than a huge, crowded site. The views are absolutely beautiful, too, and the location is great, with two restaurants within about a 15-minute walk.

Overall, a really lovely campsite where you can relax and feel completely comfortable. We would definitely recommend it and would happily stay here again.

Liked I had a great stay. It was perfect for me.
It was very friendly and peaceful.
The facilities were lovely and clean.
It had a lovely atmosphere.
Lovely hosts!
The bed was very comfy!

Disliked Nothing to dislike. The only item I could have done with was a mirror in the pod. It would have been helpful to save me doing hair and make up in the toilet block. Not a complaint or dislike though as next year I'll bring one.

Liked The site owners were lovely and friendly. It was obvious just how much they cared for their site and campers.
The facilities were very clean. And they had a great games room with a pool table, sofa and tv with a cabinet full of DVDs and large fridge freezer that could be used by campers.
The pitches themselves were also very well maintained. I loved the no noise rule between 10pm and 7.30am which everyone abided by.

Disliked We stayed 3 nights, on the 3rd night the site was full and did feel a bit cramped, especially as almost every van had at least one dog.

Local attractions

One of the real draws of this location is the ability to get out and about to lots of different activities easily enough. Golfing folk will want to bring along their gear for a round on Lundin Links golf course (five minutes’ drive) with spectacular views out over the sea. If crazy golf is more your style, head instead to Pittenweem (15 minutes), a harbour town that’s also got a tidal pool. For fishing, take to the shores of Loch Leven (half an hour) – or if you prefer just watching colourful fish swimming about, visit Deep Sea World aquarium (40 minutes). Different wildlife encounters are on offer over in Anstruther (20 minutes), where you can board boat trips to see the puffins and seals on the Isle of May. Other days out nearby might involve taking in some local history at Kellie Castle (15 minutes), Falkland Palace (25 minutes) and Dunfermline Abbey (40 minutes) or exploring the popular student town of St Andrews (25 minutes). Or might you just find your way into Scotland’s Secret Bunker (25 minutes)?
