A fabulous site,

Jul 2026

Liked Arrived to a really friendly welcome from Jess who was full of lots of good information about the area. Check in was easy and we were given an extra large pitch to share with our friends Jess supplied an adapter for electric box so we could run 2 leads off it. Site has a few walks around it. Showers, toilets & washing up area was spotless. Small shop on site selling a very good range of items. Fab stay

Disliked Needed to take van out to get around Or take a decent electric bike it’s very hilly out and about

Good family friendly site

Jul 2026

Liked Was able to book last minute, only stayed one night but had Friendly welcome on our late arrival. Pitches were good size. Toilets & showers are all separate cubicles which I liked I’d say it’s more of a camp for families as lots of children on site Secure site

Disliked Not much to dislike really. If to be picky I’d say a little pricey

Liked Was able to book last minute as needed a quick a stopover Pitches were good

Disliked Only portaloos to use- -although this was fine for one night you couldn’t spend a long time here. No showers either but we were fully aware of this no problem for one night No phone signal or WiFi at all

An excellent well kept site

Jul 2026

Liked Easy check in, we arrived late but I let them know and they sent me instructions on what to do Pitch sizes excellent. We camped on Non electric pitch we got our camper & two cars on pitch Facilities excellent only 3 showers in each & 3 loos but we didn’t find it too long to wait. Pizza van there on weekends was tasty. Bar onsite a great addition Table tennis in barn & a fridge with essentials to buy in reception opening hours Also a fridge for ice packs etc 15 minutes walk to pier end of southwold via a footpath on campsite Dogs are welcome We had an amazing weekend here and will return. Hoping to return with granddaughter and check out the little farm onsite. WiFi onsite but didn’t reach to our pitch

Disliked Rather pricey compared to other campsites A water tap nearer the non electric pitches would have been better

Relaxing, peaceful well kept adult only site

May 2026

Liked An excellent site, adult only & friendly from arrival through to check out. Stayed on a lakeside pitch (men regretted not bringing fishing gear) pitches are a good size and whole site is well maintained. Electric is optional, you get a card given to you on arrival and a key fob for the entrance gate. You pay for only what you use electricity wise. We didn’t use any this time however been informed it’s very cheap. Toilets & showers on site there are 2 blocks and are kept clean push button showers but very hot and powerful and temperature can be adjusted. The bar onsite is an added bonus, with a range of drinks on sale and games on every table if you like games. There’s a bookcase in the games rooms full of games & puzzles to choose from too. There’s pool & Darts also. We loved it and have booked to return again. Only local to us but I feel it’s one we will return regularly too as next time the men will be taking their fishing gear. We all felt super relaxed after our break away

Disliked Nothing it really is the most relaxing site

Fantastic site for a relaxed weekend away while hubby goes fishing

Apr 2026

Liked Spacious grass pitch with electric. Short stroll across the green there is a small lake to fish. All fishing is included in pitch price Showers & toilets were immaculate. Showers were nice & hot. Washing up area is good with washing up liquid supplied Disappointed that we couldn’t walk along the river. The only part you can walk along or fish is the length of the campsite. We took a walk out and found the fenland light railway close by. We didn’t go in but if you’re looking for something to do instead of fishing this is an option. Friendly owner greeted us upon arrival

Disliked No access to walking along river

Quiet family friendly camping

Sep 2025

Liked Really lovely little campsite, we stayed late in the season and arrived after 6pm. No one was around but phoned the lady who directed us where to pitch. We had the whole site to ourselves. Can imagine it’s a lovely place to bring small kiddies as it’s a farm and the field is secured by fencing all around. A fire pit in the middle with some ride on toys around too. We didn’t try the showers but these looked clean. Toilets were fine too although no loo roll provided. Luckily I carry my own. Facilities were unisex and 2 of each unit supplied. Grass pitches, I believe it’s all tents only and a few small campervans are allowed. We were in a vw camper. There is a picnic table for every pitch. We paid £30 for the night, feel like it’s at the higher end of pricing considering that’s without electricity.

Disliked No toilet roll or towel to dry hands on.

An absolute gem of a site, picture perfect, superb facilities. Fab

Apr 2025

Liked Very friendly staff at reception, it’s run by the community and they are very proud of the site as they should be. One way system in operation making the site feel safe, pitches are level and a good size, toilet & shower facilities are 10/10. Super clean, roomy and very well presented making it feel homely. I didn’t use the other facilities but there was a small shop and an area you could go sit in if weather bad with a coffee machine and a vending machine. In a good location for enjoying Wick or which we did as a stopover on route the NC500 A site that really has thought of everything, Thank you and keep up the good work

Disliked Nothing about the site itself to dislike. Didn’t have time to explore wick itself fully but first impressions is it needs some investment, maybe the town council could get some tips from wick campsite community. However there is history to Wick and I’d like to return to discover more

From the manager: Thank you for the amazing review and for posting the lovely pictures. We take it from your review you enjoyed your stay with us, and we hope you will come back and visit us again soon, to explore the rich culture and heritage that Wick has to offer. Wick itself has so much to offer, and has loads of great places to eat, drink, shop, and visit, but has suffered like many high streets in the country from the impact of out-of-town business parks and the current trend to do online shopping. Wick River Campsite, being a not-for-profit Community Enterprise, has been set up to deliver a 5-star customer experience, to attract visitors to the area to help boost the local economy. Now that the campsite upgrades have been completed, any future profits generated will be used to support community and urban regeneration projects within Wick, to make the town a better place to live and visit.

Great location for Ben Nevis, level pitches but expensive to stay

May 2025

Liked Pitches were level, and view of Ben Nevis great! Lovely walk by the river to do Facilities block was modern, plenty of toilets & showers.

Disliked Showers were a push button but only gave 10 seconds of water!! The shortest ever!! The floor squeegee to clean floors was broken so the shower I had to use was filthy. Laundry facilities were very expensive

Excellent location. Spacious pitch

Jul 2024

Liked Spacious pitches, quiet site. Showers roomy. Friendly welcome. Pub at entrance to site. Good food & friendly. Pub 1/2 mile down the road is Beautiful inside, art on walls and a mini zoo out the back!

Disliked Grass too long on pitches. Biting insects invaded of an evening, although site can’t control this I feel like keeping the grass short would help a little Entrance to shower block/toilets & washing up area is in pub car park, would be handy to put some steps in at other end. Needed key card to enter block, a pain if it’s middle of the night and you’ve forgotten it Facilities could do with cleaning a couple of times a day.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for your review. Our head gardener is back from holiday and grass is now cut shorter. Unable to put steps from campsite to showerblock. Card keys are issued so that only campers can use facilities, toilets are cleaned every day and checked on a regular basis

Quiet relaxing campsite

Jun 2024

Liked Beautiful quiet campsite. Staff are very friendly, welcoming you on arrival and explaining everything in full detail. They are on duty from 8am-8pm Toilets and showers are always clean. There are 2 new showers and although only in a portacabin type building they are clean, tidy, and hot. Pub a short walk away. Bus stop opposite pub which takes you to the national trust car park if you’re planning on visiting skomer island. (A must see) Pitches on site are tidy. We had a grass electric pitch. If you have an awning they do like you to only have it facing to the right. Lots of birds flitting about. Good truck onsite open on weekends. We didnt try the food though A lovely campsite.

Disliked Nothing really not to like. We had a very comfortable stay

Site is kept very clean and tidy Fantastic location for Devils bridge waterfall and steam train! Also short drive away is the red kite feeding. Cafe on site. They do a beautiful cream tea. Jun 2024

Liked Level pitches, easy check in. Facilities clean. Great location for relaxing. Cafe/Bar on site although we didn’t use this. Plenty of washing up sinks to use.

Disliked Facilities are at the entrance so a bit of a walk if you’re at the far end of site. Bar isn’t open in evening

Small Basic site, friendly owner

Jun 2024

Liked Lovely small campsite, quiet with plenty of wildlife. Linda was friendly and chatty- Shower & toilets good size, only 2 of. 1 includes washing machine & freezer. Got to choose own Pitch- good size pitches, slightly sloping with electric hook up. Excellent for viewing sunset!! Horses, goats and pigs on site as on a small holding but could only see horses but couldn’t get near them. Easy to access and close to south stack which is a must see. It is by a road but road was quiet in the evening

Disliked Grass too long, Showers a bit hit and miss with temperature and hooks to hang towel up was too far away from shower cubicle. Could do with an added bench or chair in the room as well as a shelf for shower gel etc

Excellent stay, tidy site

Jun 2024

Liked Tidy & clean site. Very well laid out. Spacious showers. Easy check in. On arrival name was on board in reception saying what pitch number to pitch up on. Radio was sometimes on in shower block, thought that was a nice touch. Horses & cows in the fields, horses were friendly A great stay Beautiful views around Friendly staff, shower blocks cleaned twice daily

Disliked Nothing really! But if I was going to be picky I didn’t like the toilet paper dispenser! Was little square sheets instead of on a roll. Obviously wasn’t a problem though. Also radio was turned off on one of the days we there.

Great site. Beautiful location and clean facilities

May 2024

Liked Beautiful location, lovely walk alongside river. Perfect for taking the dogs. Pub on site serving food. We didn’t eat here this time just had a drink, but will certainly try it next time as food looked lovely. Facilities were very clean. We booked non electric pitch, this was choose your own on arrival. Electric pitches are given out. Whiteboard at entrance on arrival tells you where to go to pitch. Will definitely be returning

Disliked No hot water in basins and you have to hold down the tap to get water this makes it difficult to wash hands. Push button showers only lasted 30 seconds in one cubicle and only 10 seconds in another. If you walk along the river be sure to go left, towards Yarmouth the one on the right isn’t as nicely kept
