Liked The pool. Nice pitches. Supermarche within walking distance -20 minutes. Great stop over for Calais either coming into France or going out. Interesting history. A day or two here is enough. Man on reception was exceptional.
Disliked Food in restaurant was terrible. Waited over an hour for it to arrive, but lots of others who came in after us were given their food first. I think ours was forgotten as my pizza was burnt and dry and my husband's ribs and fries was a sorry excuse for a meal. Take your own sauces!

Liked Great pitches. Very friendly staff- especially the young waitress on the bar who had taught herself English. Pool was lovely- but a little small. Still a great pool for a dip on the heat. Bar and restaurant was well priced. We are there twice and the food was very good- la plancha crispy was right up there for me. Toilets clean. A two minute walk to the lake where, if you have a dog, they can swim off the jetty. Boat hire here- you will only need 2 hours maximum if you do this. Nice bars and eateries here as well. 6k cycle to nearest supermarche. Shop/reception on site has a good selection and really well priced. A really lovely site, but if you want to explore a little further you will need a car. A great site though with great staff
Disliked Not enough toilets. Only two per block in the ladies. Three blocks on site. Often had to queue.

Thoissey, L'Ain, France
Powered grass campsite
Liked Clean, relaxing site with good facilities. For those with bikes, excellent access to the cycle path along the river. A short walk or cycle onto Thoissey village with a nice little shop, boulangerie, bar and a few restaurants. Site has a public pool which you have free access to as reception will give you cards. Pool is lovely. Restaurant above wasn't busy. Bar by river was a great pit stop. Night market on Wednesday was lovely. Toilets clean - take your own loo roll! Showers good. Lots of French families enjoying their stay and always happy to wave and smile at the funny little Brits ( a rare breed here).
Little beaches off river (you need to cycle or walk there) for your own dip or cool down for pooches.
Disliked No where to fill up the van with water as taps were push down rather than twist.
Lots of old, shabby caravans that weren't being used.

Liked Beautiful views of lake and hills. Very peaceful. Great bar and restaurant on site- very popular eatery for locals. Good prices for their tapas offerings- potato dippers and tempura prawns were great. Kayaking on the lake was peaceful. Take your wallet as a great bar to the left- a bit of a paddle away but worth it. One also to the right , but that was closed. Lake is great to swim in. Toilets and showers were clean.Staff were friendly. Bar was well priced. If you are going to be sans car, stock up before parking up, as nothing in walking distance. Or, eat and drink on site for the duration. A place at one with nature. Herons easily spotted. Very beautiful. Worth a visit.
Disliked Lack of electrical points. We had to hire a much longer lead to add on to our already substantial one. €30 deposit. Didn't spoil our stay, but caused some panic at the start as we thought we might be without electric for four days and with the heat, we needed the fans on! Take three and two pinned extensions- just incase.

Liked Everything! Bar. Staff. Location. Camping neighbours. Local village. Home made chips. Entertainment. Swimming pool. Facilities were excellent and spotless. Free WiFi at bar and pool. We were the only Brits there, so very much a French family holiday spot with a wonderful atmosphere. Village is only a 15 minute walk along the beautiful river, with spots to swim for both man and dog. The village itself is vibrant, full of history, overflowing with musical talent and offers places to sit, have a beer and watch the world go by
During the summer months, they have a night market on a Thursday, which is a must to visit. Families all sitting together, chatting, laughing and eating food from one of the many delicious stalls from paella to cheesy mash- a local speciality. And not a screen between them- sociability at its very best.
Disliked Washing machines couldn't be used as no wifi in area, but huge sinks to hand wash so not a problem.

Liked The swimming pool and receptionist was friendly.
Disliked Motorhome pitch was basically an unkempt car park. Promise of bread delivered was cancelled due to lack of guests and baker's refusal to deliver. One toilet- no toilet roll. One shower. No washing up facilities, but shown a bucket to throw used water on plants. Private jetty abandoned and overgrown, so hopes of getting the kayak on the water were shattered. The local town of Fumel, which you could neither walk or cycle to, was like a ghost town. We booked another site and stayed just the one night.
