I love it here. Will keep on coming back!

Aug 2026

Liked Lovely flat, spacious pitches with fire bowls and picnic tables on every pitch. A wide range of pitch types. Loads of personal space and privacy. Excellent toilet blocks. This is a really lovely campsite in every way..

Disliked I dislike nothing really, but it was a bit disconcerting to be allocated a pitch that was already occupied by someone else. Fortunately the site was mostly empty and I managed to change to a different pitch with a quick phone call.

Still my favourite UK campsite!

Jul 2026

Liked I get my printing done in Market Harborough and have an overnight stay here. But the truth is, I get my printing done in Market Harborough especially so I can have an overnight stay here! Still my favourite campsite. Sublime countryside and walks. Lovely friendly owners.

Disliked Nothing. All is perfect.

I love this campsite. Feels so…

Liked I love this campsite. Feels so remote. Excellent toilet / shower facilities, nicely maintained and level pitches, with picnic tables and fire pits. Lovely surrounding countryside with two excellent pubs in walking distance. I'll keep coming back.

The perfect place to celebrate being 60!

Oct 2025

Liked I always love camping at Penn Meadow Farm, which is why I chose to celebrate my 60th birthday here with friends. Frankie kept the campsite open for us especially and obliged in every possible way. We had a wonderful fire and the fairy lights were turned on for us. The proximity to the excellenr Royal Standard pub and delightful Bekonscot model village added variety. Everything went perfectly. Thanks so much Frankie and family for making the weekend so awesome.

Disliked Communication was a bit tricky at times, and for a while booking was accidentally closed. But it all turned out well in the end.

Excellent. I'll definitely be back.

Aug 2025

Liked Beautiful surrounding area with plenty of public footpaths and good local pubs. The long grass surrounding the pitches gives privacy. The benches and fire pits on each pitch are excellent. Toilet and shower block good, clean and well equipped. I enjoyed watching the aerplanes and skydivers! Good information signs with directions to pubs etc.

Disliked As a solo camper the privacy came at the cost of interaction with other people, a thing I enjoy at other campsites. But I accept that most people prefer the privacy. I booked on the day, and didn't get an allocated spot, so I worried a bit that I might have to move.

What a lovely campsite! I watched…

Aug 2025

Liked What a lovely campsite! I watched the sunset on the left and the moonrise on the right with the twinkling lights of Market Harborough between. The owners are lovely, and, best of all, they even sent a map of local walks and footpaths. I did the longest walk this morning. The landscape is exquisite--lots of old trees and beautiful undulating grassland, steeped in the archaeology of ancient farming systems. Lots of wildlife too.

Lovely little campsite in beautiful countryside & near a great pub.

Jul 2024

Liked A lovely little campsite, very close to an excellent pub and countless fabulous walks. Dog-friendly and allows barbecues. I live locally, so I'll be back frequently, I think. The campsite is new, so I wish the owner every success.

Superb location; great price. Campfires are a bit expensive though.

Sep 2023

Liked The location is absolutely perfect for my many walks in the area, both on and off the Ridgeway. This is a spacious, quiet and secluded campsite. Perfect for dog owners, as there is easy access to public footpaths.

Disliked At £12 for a fire pit, and an additional sum for firewood, lighting a fire is rather prohibitively expensive, especially for one person.

From the manager: Hi Katrina, So glad you enjoyed your stay. The cost of our firepits accounts for the hire of the firepit for your stay and a set of logs for a night, so the cost is for firepit hire + a set of logs. It is then £8 for further logs for future nights. We think this is quite reasonably priced, but you can save £2 by booking the firepit on the day, as they are £10 to book on site. We think these are reasonably priced, and we're unable to charge less as then there wouldn't be any money in them for us as a small business. The cost of wood has increased due to inflation, hence we need to charge an amount that it justifies the labour and cost of providing them, otherwise we would run at a loss. Though we always recommend bringing your own raised firepit if you don't want to hire one next time.

Campfires, animals, a nearby pub, and a sublime view. Perfect!

Jul 2023

Liked What a gem! This campsite ticks all the boxes. Dogs are welcome. Campfires are not only allowed, but the site provides an abundance of wonderful hand-forged fire baskets for anyone to use free of charge. There's a little cafe on site, with a friendly cat and friendly staff. A fridge and freezer is available for anyone to store food during the day, and there's a shop providing necessary items. Toilet/shower facilities were clean and homely. I don't have children, but I watched lots of kiddies having a wonderful time in the little playpark in the corner, so I can say with certainty that it's great for families, too. Did I mention there are goats too? The campsite is situated on a hilltop just above the village church tower. It's a very short walk to an excellent village pub. And the view from the campsite is sublime. Incredible value for money. I recommended the site to several other walkers I met on Dartmoor during my stay. I'll certainly be returning.
