If you've ever angled for a Swedish fishing holiday, you won't want to let this one get away. For Steiner's Camping and Lodge in Svealand's Dalarna County is in fine fishing land, on the banks of Lake Örklingen in the excellent angling area of Södra Venjan: ask owners Monika and Nicola to point you and your kit in the direction of some of the best spots.
Not angling for a Swedish fishing hol but angling for a lakeside retreat in a highly handsome setting, ta very much? Take things easy ambling around the area or see if you can get hooked on the outdoor activities from here: cross-country skiing and sledging are top winter picks; hiking and biking are easily available all year round, and Steiner's has its own small boat and canoes that guests can hire for a small fee to push peacefully out onto the lake.
Or you could just gaze dreamily over the waters instead… Overlooking the rather lovely lake, the Steiner's restaurant serves a wide range of meals using locally sourced and organic produce, from traditional dagens lunches to daily specials in the evening and coffee, sandwiches and drinks throughout the day.
In between eats, drinks, and trips on snow or water, retreat to the kitchen facilities and board games of the spacious living area in the main site building, where you'll also find showers, toilets and a washing-up area.

Local attractions
Warm months, cool months and all weathers in between have activities in the Svealand setting of Steiner's Camping and Lodge, or you could just stick around lakeside for shoreside rambles, sledding, fishing and kayaking.
If you're around in summer, have some biking around the lake or nearby in Gesunda and its mountain bike centre with kilometres' worth of trails to plunge downhill at, or try cantering in the Mora countryside via the horse riding centre about 20 minutes from Steiner's.
Wintery and skiing options are all around – tis Sweden after all – like down the slopes of the cross country trails around the site and in the nearby resorts of Sälen, Idre and Romme. If you're of a competitive or mighty fit bent, the cross-country skiing event of Vasaloppet is the oldest, longest and biggest of its kind in the world, running for 90 kilometres from Sälen to Mora since 1922.
And if you've been very very good? Those who yearn to see Santa (yes) can excitedly travel to Santaland, the Santa theme park on the Gesunda Mountain south of Mora, to meet Mr Claus and his band of merry elves.
