  • Friendly and spacious holiday park in the grounds of a Norman château
  • By the River Seine, 10 minutes' drive from Château Gaillard
  • Direct river access, tennis, mini golf, fishing, bar and wellness area
Sometimes, you've just got to treat yourself and swap daily life for a bit of 'la vie de château'… and that's where this friendly Upper Normandy site comes in. Set in stately home grounds, with a spread of quality facilities and direct access to the scenic River Seine, it's quite simply a top spot to put down roots in while on a break in northern France. As the name implies, Château de Bouafles is in the grounds of a rather handsome manor. There's an appropriately lordly range of amenities here, including a well-equipped laundry room, fresh morning bread deliveries daily (except Wednesdays), a bar, a games room and books to borrow. If your hands need a bit of rejuvenation after making use of the site's washing-up points, simply chat to reception about getting your nails done on site – yet another potential perk of staying here. Don’t worry, the rest of your body and mind are catered for as well – a wellness area with a sauna, hammam, Jacuzzi and a swim spa can be used by ages 12+ for an additional fee. There's also fishing in the river, a launch where boats and kayaks can be floated, a miniature golf course, a playground and a full-size tennis court. Away from base, you can spend your downtime exploring the local area's other châteaux (including the fine specimen 10 minutes' drive away at Gaillard), sailing up and down the Seine or simply browsing the weekly street markets in Gaillon (15 minutes), Vernon (20 minutes) or Louviers (25 minutes).

What customers say

Beautiful, peaceful campground on the Seine River. Reviewers love the spacious, private sites, clean restrooms, and kind staff. The chateau bar and food truck are hits, with good kid amenities. Some early 2024 building was noted, but expect improvements. Wi-Fi can be spotty.

Power optional grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked La zona relax con idromassaggio e bagno turco, la sauna non funzionava, piazzole molto grandi anche co acqua

Disliked Le distanze dalla reception alle piazzole, illuminazione inesistente anche nei viali principali, bagni essenziali e spartani

Recommend to friends Visit again

Bonne continuation

Powered grass and gravel campsite (Private restroom amenities)

Liked Spacious private pitch — very large, peaceful and offered excellent privacy.
Private facilities — a great convenience and made the stay feel more comfortable.
Helpful communication — staff kept in touch promptly and were proactive in updating us.

Disliked Maintenance issues with the private facilities led to an unpleasant smell. Follow‑up leak occurred shortly after the initial fix; cleaners identified it and staff contacted us by voicemail and email to confirm further repairs.
Early departure — despite the team’s efforts, the smell persisted and we chose to leave one night earlier than planned.

From the manager: Hello,
I’m sorry about the problem with the bathroom; we did our best in the heat of the moment, which isn’t always easy.
All the best,
Kind regards,

Liked The site and the reception team were very friendly and helpful

Disliked The pitch was too far away from the sanitary block which was a problem for me and too many residential pitches

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hello,
After checking, your pitch was about 150 metres from the toilet facilities; that seems correct to me. I’m sorry that this caused you any trouble.
Perhaps we could have changed it, subject to availability, if you’d come and told us.
This pitch is often appreciated for its size and the vegetation around it.
Mixing with the residents isn’t a problem.
We look forward to welcoming you back.

Power optional grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked Close to the river
Could order croissants and bread for the morning
Showers and facilities were clean
Staff were friendly and helpful
Short drive to Chateau de Gaillard
1 hour to Rouen and similar to Monets garden

Disliked Large potholes after driving in, near the entrance.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your compliments,
Just to let you know: as for the potholes, these are due to the large temperature fluctuations between this winter and this summer, and the repair work is scheduled for the autumn
see you a next time !!

The Wi-Fi is getting better, but in a park with lots of trees, it’s true that it’s a bit of a challenge.

Power optional grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked Free pool table, tennis, basket ball, darts, trampoline etc. nice friendly atmosphere.

Disliked Kids need some sort of water splash. The river beach is not an option for children and it's a bit smelly down there as well.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your compliments. A swimming pool is something we’re thinking about, but it would cause noise issues with the neighbours and represents a huge investment.
The smell along the banks of the Seine – that happens when it’s hot. I’m sorry about that.

Power optional grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked Really nice place, not a lot more to say. Right beside the river Seine.
It’s a static home park with privately divided camping pitches dotted throughout the site. A good balance between both!
The toilets were clean and plenty of them for everyone. Washing up facilities were good.
Disco on Saturday night by the river and plenty of things to do for children.
A cycle path runs through the site with both routes being picturesque.

Disliked Could do with a swimming pool. If there was one, we wouldn’t have left!

Local attractions

Get set for a bit of a climb and a lot of picture-snapping at Château Gaillard (10 minutes’ drive): the grand hilltop castle, the old stomping ground of Richard the Lionheart, has mind-boggling views over the River Seine. Évreux Cathedral (30 minutes) is another site of fancy – its sheer size enough to make your head spin. For a test of strength and bravery, battle the high ropes at Acroforest (40 minutes). Alternatively, head to Golf de Gaillon (15 minutes) for a gentler piece of the action. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped right into one of Monet’s paintings at his preserved home and gardens in Giverny (25 minutes). Once you’ve had your fill of fancy plants, make room for the other face of nature and greet the animals at Biotropica Zoo (35 minutes). If city living is more down your avenue, Rouen (40 minutes) and Paris (an hour and 15) aren’t out of reach. For families with kids, you can admire all the best French cities in miniature form at France Miniature (an hour), a good pick for little feet not fit to take on the real-life cities on foot.
