Plenty of space

  • Well-maintained Anglesey pitches on a family-run working farm
  • A 10-minute drive to Parys Mountain; 20 minutes to Benllech beach
  • Very short walk to local pub; five minutes' drive to Amlwch
Up at the top end of the Isle of Anglesey is generally a great place to take a peaceful holiday – but it gets even better when there’s a local pub a mere 50 yards away. And that’s the situation you’ll find yourself in when you stay at Cae Ffynnon, part of a working farm about five minutes’ drive inland from Amlwch. Pitches at this small family-run site are well maintained and well located, within easy reach of walking trails, bike paths, beaches, boat trips and the port at Holyhead (about half an hour’s drive away for those boarding a ferry to Ireland). And of course there’s that village pub a short walk away for a good feed and a welcome pint after your day out. You’ll have plenty of space to spread out on your pitch when you’re staying here, and you’ll be provided with some handy amenities including an electric hookup and picnic bench for each pitch. Shared facilities include toilets, showers and a washing-up area and you’re welcome to bring dogs and kids along for a stay here. Being so close to Amlwch means that you’ll have easy enough access to shops and places to eat (and the beach…) despite your peaceful immediate surroundings.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Pitches and setting.

Disliked Toilet and shower facilities, though I must say they were clean and well maintained. It would have been more of a problem had it been a full sight.

Level pitch, friendly owner, good ocation - disgusting facilities.

Powered cement/asphalt campsite

Liked The location and view were perfect for our stay and for getting around Anglesey. Due to the site being quiet, there was a good space for our dog to be exercised in the mornings before heading out.

Disliked The toilet and shower facilities are the worst we've yet experienced. Basic is always good, but these were tight, dirty spaces which, unbelievably, were an additional charge - using wet wipes in our camper was more preferable than using the shower. I cannot imagine the queues when the site is busy!!! Apparently, new ones are being built???
There was also no hot water for washing up.
We would definitely not stay there again.

Great site layout, quiet with flat pitches cut in to the field.…

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Great site layout, quiet with flat pitches cut in to the field. Well established with lots of wildlife including goats, ponies and an amazing display of swifts and swallows! Toilet and shower facility perfectly functional and a pub 50 yards away, what more could you want!

From the manager: Thank you for you're honest review of our site and looking forward to seeing you again soon.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Small quiet site near a good pub. Easy drive to the coast and the places we wanted to get to. We were one of only 3 couples on the site for 3 days. Toilet and hot shower available. Fridge and power for charging phones

Disliked Needs more than one toilet as I would imagine there would be a queue is the site is full. I believe more are being built

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked This is our second time staying because we have loved it so much. The owner is a top bloke and very helpful. The location is amazing with so much to do within 12 mins drive.
Loads of room to pitch your tent and then to have fun with the family. We will be going back again!

From the manager: Thank you much appreciated glad you enjoyed your stay with us and we hope to see you soon Len

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked It was a peaceful, rural location and a short drive away from the coast. Fresh air and lots of bird life. Very importantly, it was cheap. The owner Len is friendly.

Disliked The facilities need to be improved. One toilet for the whole site is not adequate and particularly in a busy period.

From the manager: How could you miss the new shower block which will be fully operational in the coming weeks and the toilets will be fully refurbished at the same time, shame you won't be back to see them.

Will come again when the weather is better, we cut our stay short!

Local attractions

A trip to Anglesey is usually all about the outdoor activities, and you’ll be well placed for those with a stay here. A drive of a little over five minutes will get you to a fishing spot at Llyn Alaw or a challenging but scenic round at Bull Bay Golf Club. Boats also head out from Amlwch harbour (five minutes’ drive) for sea fishing or just a bit of coastal sightseeing. There’s plenty of sightseeing to do on land too, whether you head out on the Anglesey Coast Path or aim for Parys Mountain (10 minutes’ drive) for a fabulous stroll through the colourful landscapes left behind by an ancient copper mine. The Copper Kingdom Centre (five minutes) will give you further insight into this aspect of the island’s past. And what about when you’d just like to sit on the beach, thanks very much? There’s a small stretch of sand at Amlwch, but you’d be better off heading to Lligwy (15 minutes), Church Bay (20 minutes) or Benllech (20 minutes) if you’re planning to spend a whole day swimming and sandcastle building.
