  • Peaceful dog-friendly site with views of Eryri (Snowdonia)
  • On the banks of the river Gwyrfai; a 10 minute-drive from Caernarfon
  • Walking routes directly from the site; playground and games room
Adventurous types, unite, and make your way to Bryn Gloch Caravan and Camping Park. This is the type of place where holidaymakers can hike all day long, and it's peaceful too, on the banks of the river Gwyrfai with views of the Eryri (Snowdonia) mountains and the north Wales countryside. There are walking routes directly from the site – good news for those with dogs or a lust for adventure. One of the UK’s longest heritage railways, the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways, passes through the site on its 25-mile journey past the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). You might want to board it yourself Caernarfon (10 minutes’ drive) and see if you can spot your patch of land as you pass by. That’s after you’ve experienced one of the boat trips that run along the Menai Strait from the quayside below Caernarfon Castle, of course. There’s a very generous serving of facilities at Bryn Gloch Caravan and Camping Park, from heated bathrooms and wifi to playgrounds and a games room. The pitches are spacious, giving you plenty of opportunities to soak in the scenery.

What customers say

Spacious, level pitches in beautiful Snowdonia, perfect for hikers and families. Praised for friendly staff, cleanliness, and great facilities, including hot showers. Riverside setting, play areas, and proximity to Snowdon are highlights. Some noted occasional farm noise or WiFi issues. Visitors highly recommend and plan to return.

Disliked A field kitchen would have been really useful.

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Everything, there wasn’t or isn’t anything not to like. Cleanest campsite we’ve stayed on, and views are worth the money alone. Lovely site, all the amenities needed, clean and spacious toilets/shower rooms, nice sized pitches and the dog walking area is a nice little touch

Disliked Honestly can’t say anything!

Owain shepherd's hut (pet friendly)

Liked We had an incredible stay at Bryn Gloch with our dog. We spent 3 nights in the Owain hut and it was perfect. Everyone there was lovely, always got a wave when you went past. Toilet blocks were within good access distance and were clean and easy to use. The hut itself was very clean also. The scenery was absolutely incredible, day and night. We were lucky to have sunny days with very starry nights. There was a few different walks from the hut across the river up into the forest. The little plug in heater in the hut was great! It’s a 15 minute drive to Caernarfon that has everything you need. So relaxed and a perfect escape from reality, sad to go home.

Disliked The mattress was on the uncomfortable side - springy and a bit drafty, would recommend to bring a mattress topper and that’ll do the trick! A shelf unit would be really helpful just to keep things off the table and handy storage.

FHU grass campsite

Liked Everything!!
From the moment I arrived was made to feel most welcome, staff were amazing in explaining where to go, what there was to do locally and generally extremely helpful with any questions had
The park was very tidy and layout was spot on, everything you needed was on hand. washing facilities, drying room and showers/toilets were all clean and tidy, kept and maintained well.
Would 100% come back here, ideally located to do Snowdon summit with a few paths only a few minutes drive away.
Pitches were a very good size, I choose the elec hock up with water and drainage, perfect for what i needed.
Yes I did come through the quiet season so not very busy, but busy enough as plenty of people were coming and going.
Cant wait to book again, as for me this was the perfect spot for when visiting the area.

Powered grass campsite

Liked The facilities were very good and the pitches were spacious. The person I spoke to was very helpful when it turned out we had brought the wrong car and couldn't get through the front barrier due to number plate recognition. The location is very close to Snowden, particularly the start of the Snowden Ranger track which is great for beginner hikers.

Disliked There does not appear to be much drainage and the pitches became waterlogged with the heavy rain. These puddles remained for multiple days. The shower facilities had become heavily infested with insects which made them difficult to use for those who, like myself, do not like insects. I hope management addresses this with something like insect mesh in the windows for future guests.

Adventurous types can tackle the fastest zipwire in the world at Zip World Penrhyn Quarry (half an hour). With underground trampolines based in slate caverns, you’re likely to work up a sweat. GreenWood Family Park (20 minutes) has traditional rides, including family-friendly rollercoasters. Where next? Perhaps Caernarfon Airport (25 minutes), where there’s an aviation museum and pleasure flights along the Menai Strait and around Snowdon? Portmeirion (35 minutes), an Italianate village featured on the telly? Or Llanberis (20 minutes), where the mountain railway departs? Llanberis is close to the National Slate Museum (20 minutes), which has the largest working water wheel in Britain.
