  • Peaceful dog-friendly site with views of Eryri (Snowdonia)
  • On the banks of the river Gwyrfai; a 10 minute-drive from Caernarfon
  • Walking routes directly from the site; playground and games room
Adventurous types, unite, and make your way to Bryn Gloch Caravan and Camping Park. This is the type of place where holidaymakers can hike all day long, and it's peaceful too, on the banks of the river Gwyrfai with views of the Eryri (Snowdonia) mountains and the north Wales countryside. There are walking routes directly from the site – good news for those with dogs or a lust for adventure. One of the UK’s longest heritage railways, the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways, passes through the site on its 25-mile journey past the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). You might want to board it yourself Caernarfon (10 minutes’ drive) and see if you can spot your patch of land as you pass by. That’s after you’ve experienced one of the boat trips that run along the Menai Strait from the quayside below Caernarfon Castle, of course. There’s a very generous serving of facilities at Bryn Gloch Caravan and Camping Park, from heated bathrooms and wifi to playgrounds and a games room. The pitches are spacious, giving you plenty of opportunities to soak in the scenery.

What customers say

Brilliant spot for Snowdonia, with grand mountain views & great facilities. Staff are dead sound, and it's lovely by the river. Pitches are usually big enough for everyone. Mostly quiet, but can get a bit lively during busy spells.

Electric grass pitch

Liked The location was brilliant, the backdrop was amazing. We also love the stream, it’s perfect for kids and adults alike! Our kids had hours of fun splashing around in there. The grass along side the stream was flat and well maintained. There were picnic tables to sit at, or plenty of space to bring in your own chairs and watch the kids play. The pitches were plenty big enough and the site was clean. There was an army of staff going round either litter picking, mowing, trimming hedges etc. There was a games room on site, I’m sure if the weather was bad, the kids would have used it, but there’s no need when they can play outside.

Fully-serviced grass pitch

Liked Loved the park layout, how friendly the staff were welcoming us when we arrived. Loved the fact they have a little stream that runs through the park, where you can have a paddle in. The facilities are great and cleaned regularly. They have food vans that come to the park as well, pizza van, cocktail vans, breakfast vans.

Electric grass pitch

Liked We really enjoyed our stay. Site was lovely. Nice little shop on site and the pizza / cocktail vans were brill.
Site was clean and comfortable.

Disliked Not so much a dislike more of an opinion, however I found there was no enough toilets. We had 4 toilets on our section and as you can imagine the queue in the morning and evenings were sometimes 20minutes long. So I would of liked more toilets / wash area

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Just got back from our weekend here and honestly loved it. The campsite was immaculate, staff were incredible (especially when your child needs them to dismantle park equipment after an accident). Pitch size was great and especially field 3 where there is a play park in the centre. I enjoyed that there was a cut off and the ‘park warden’ came at night to close the park which allowed for the night to calm down and also helped the noise.
(I have an 8 month old also).
There is a beautiful river running through which we did some wild swimming too. I would recommend and will also be returning!

Local attractions

Legend says Gelert, a hound belonging to a Welsh prince, is buried in Beddgelert (15 minutes’ drive). Visit the grave, take in the views from the Aberglaslyn Pass (15 minutes) and then visit the Sygun Copper Mine (20 minutes) to learn more about the conditions in 19th-century mines. Adventurous types can tackle the fastest zipwire in the world at Zip World Penrhyn Quarry (half an hour). With underground trampolines based in slate caverns, you’re likely to work up a sweat. GreenWood Family Park (20 minutes) has traditional rides, including family-friendly rollercoasters. Where next? Perhaps Caernarfon Airport (25 minutes), where there’s an aviation museum and pleasure flights along the Menai Strait and around Snowdon? Portmeirion (35 minutes), an Italianate village featured on the telly? Or Llanberis (20 minutes), where the mountain railway departs? Llanberis is close to the National Slate Museum (20 minutes), which has the largest working water wheel in Britain.
