  • Excellent base for touring north Wales, three miles from St Asaph
  • Rural site a mile from the A55 and 15 minutes' drive from beaches
  • Hot showers, firepits and catering van on site
They’re keen on the idea of a peaceful stay for all guests at Corn Bwch, a rural Denbighshire site surrounded by gorgeous scenery, three miles from St Asaph. To make sure that your peaceful break isn’t just a pipe dream, the team here implement a no-music policy, don’t accommodate large groups and encourage everyone to be kind to their neighbours with ‘quiet time’ after 11pm. No need to panic if you’ve got kids that aren’t of the particularly peaceful sort, though – the site has a sizeable separate field where they can run about, make noise and play games of football without guy rope trip hazards. Barbecues and campfires are all part of the experience here, of course; the team help such proceedings along by hiring out firepits, selling firewood and providing a number of picnic tables to serve up on. Too bleary-eyed to cope with breakfast prep? Make your way to the catering van for hot drinks and food; it’s also open for breakfast and on some evenings during the peak season. Easy access to food isn’t the only nod to comfort at this friendly site: hot showers are also available, and there’s a well-equipped communal shelter with a fridge-freezer, washing-up facilities and plenty of power points for gadget charging/hairdryer wielding/airbed pumping. Getting out’s a cinch from this handy location – Anglesey, the north coast beaches, and Eryri (Snowdonia National Park) are all easily doable, as the A55 North Wales Expressway is a mere mile away.

What customers say

A clean, well-kept site with friendly owners. Praised for its quiet location, great North Wales access, and excellent facilities (toilets, showers, fridges, charging). Food truck is a hit. Minor notes on occasional hot water issues and A55 traffic noise.

Primitive grass tent campsite (four person)

Liked We liked the good sized pitches and the space we had. We got there when it wasn't busy and we're able to choose our perfect spot.
The hot showers and cleaning facilities including the fridge and freezer.
The separate playing field for sports.
The friendly hosts.
The food van that came in the morning and evening, even though we never used it, it was nice to know it was there.
And the fire pit and logs completed the camping trip. 6 pound for the fire pit for 2 nights and 6 pound for a sack of logs each night...

Disliked Not allowed music, even though It was low and nobody else was close to us. Does say in the description no music but thought that meant, no loud music from speakers or when you had someone next to you.. not just playing from your phone and noone else around.

Primitive grass tent campsite (four person)

Liked This site was perfect- clean, quiet, and well equipped with everything you need, plus some great extras like a play field for the kids, a fridge and freezer, and phone charging points.

The pitches were spacious, flat, and included access to picnic benches. We hired a firepit, which came with everything we needed, and enjoyed breakfast from the onsite food van.

The location was ideal, just off the A55. Very easy to find and convenient.

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked Lovely maintained site, toilets always clean and well stocked. The burger van in the evening and morning was great if you didn’t feel like cooking. Being able to have a fire and a bbq really adds to the whole camping experience. Why all sites don’t allow it baffles me. Friendly staff even to the point of saying goodbye when we were leaving, just the little touches that make this site stand out from others. What a little gem, will definitely be back

Local attractions

You’ll be wanting to swing by St Asaph at some point – for supplies, for eats and drinks in the restaurants and bars, for river walks, for visits to the cathedral and/or for active times at the leisure centre, tennis courts and bowling green. Fishing types can pick up permits in town too before heading out to try their luck with the trout and salmon that swim in the Elwy and Clwyd rivers. Sunny day? The beaches of Rhyl, Prestatyn and Towyn are within a 15-20 minute drive, and Llandudno’s a half-hour away. Not so much? Head out to see sea beasties at the SeaQuarium (15 minutes’ drive) or land-dwelling ones at Welsh Mountain Zoo (20 minutes), or take off to the museums and shops of Chester (40 minutes) or Liverpool (an hour). Active types have plenty of options for walks in the Snowdonia National Park (40 minutes) or along the coast path in Anglesey, having stopped for obligatory pics of the nation’s longest station name in Llanfairpwllgwyngyll (40 minutes), of course. Golfers can play a round at the 18-hole courses at Rhuddlan, Abergele and Denbigh (all within a 10-minute drive).
