Camping pod - new for 2025.

  • Excellent base for touring north Wales, three miles from St Asaph
  • Rural site a mile from the A55 and 15 minutes' drive from beaches
  • Hot showers, firepits and catering van on site
They’re keen on the idea of a peaceful stay for all guests at Corn Bwch, a rural Denbighshire site surrounded by gorgeous scenery, three miles from St Asaph. To make sure that your peaceful break isn’t just a pipe dream, the team here implement a no-music policy, don’t accommodate large groups and encourage everyone to be kind to their neighbours with ‘quiet time’ after 11pm. No need to panic if you’ve got kids that aren’t of the particularly peaceful sort, though – the site has a sizeable separate field where they can run about, make noise and play games of football without guy rope trip hazards. Barbecues and campfires are all part of the experience here, of course; the team help such proceedings along by hiring out firepits, selling firewood and providing a number of picnic tables to serve up on. Too bleary-eyed to cope with breakfast prep? Make your way to the catering van for hot drinks and food; it’s also open for breakfast and on some evenings during the peak season. Easy access to food isn’t the only nod to comfort at this friendly site: hot showers are also available, and there’s a well-equipped communal shelter with a fridge-freezer, washing-up facilities and plenty of power points for gadget charging/hairdryer wielding/airbed pumping. Getting out’s a cinch from this handy location – Anglesey, the north coast beaches, and Eryri (Snowdonia National Park) are all easily doable, as the A55 North Wales Expressway is a mere mile away.

Primitive grass tent campsite (two person)

Liked Great small site for a few nights away. Two camping fields plus a separate area for football and play equipment for younger children. Clean toilet and shower facilities plus area for washing up and shared fridges for campers. Particularly liked the catering van which opened for a hour around breakfast and again early evening - small menu including bacon / sausage/ egg butty, pancakes, hot drink, burger - great if you have limited cooking equipment. Welcoming owners who came over to our pitch to check us in when they opened up the catering for the evening. Good location to access beaches and close to A55 (but not too noisy).

Primitive grass tent campsite (two person)

Liked 1st camp for me in over a decade, and my daughter 1st camp full stop (that wasn't in the garden)
Lovely people that are very hospitable, not too busy/crowded and plenty of space, facilities were all you can ask for even with a fridge so you can save room on a cool box!
Will definitely be coming back at some point either on my own for a wind down chill or with my wife and both kids next time in the bigger tent.

Primitive grass tent campsite (two person)

Liked Beautiful site! We were pitched right next to the field full of cows and calves which was lovely to watch. The facilities were very clean and well maintained. The fridge and freezer were also really handy to have access to! We are already planning our next stay, couldn’t have asked for friendlier site owners

Primitive grass tent campsite (four person)

Liked Calm and quiet site, tidy and well kept, facilities clean. Owners friendly and felt at home. Food van open for short time in morning and evening, incase you can’t be bothered to cook! We took our 17 month old and he was safe here toddling around.

Primitive grass tent campsite (four person)

Liked The kitchen area, toilets and showers were spotlessly clean and everything worked well with good, hot water, a full sized fridge and freezer (plenty of space when we came, but I imagine they'd get a bit full in summer!) Quiet site, handy to have a separate area for the kids to play. Not very sheltered when windy, although I suspect that the fences for the camping pods we were next to may have created a bit of a wind tunnel and it may have been calmer further away from them! Handy for main roads but not close enough to be noisy.

Disliked We unfortunately kept missing the cafe hut and firewood for sale on site as they were both early in the evening, but I appreciate the owner doesn't want to hang around for hours!

Local attractions

You’ll be wanting to swing by St Asaph at some point – for supplies, for eats and drinks in the restaurants and bars, for river walks, for visits to the cathedral and/or for active times at the leisure centre, tennis courts and bowling green. Fishing types can pick up permits in town too before heading out to try their luck with the trout and salmon that swim in the Elwy and Clwyd rivers. Sunny day? The beaches of Rhyl, Prestatyn and Towyn are within a 15-20 minute drive, and Llandudno’s a half-hour away. Not so much? Head out to see wild animals at Welsh Mountain Zoo (20 minutes), or take off to the museums and shops of Chester (40 minutes) or Liverpool (an hour). Active types have plenty of options for walks in the Snowdonia National Park (40 minutes) or along the coast path in Anglesey, having stopped for obligatory pics of the nation’s longest station name in Llanfairpwllgwyngyll (40 minutes), of course. Golfers can play a round at the 18-hole courses at Rhuddlan, Abergele and Denbigh (all within a 10-minute drive).
