Quiet season nice pitches and great for dog

  • Peaceful pitches a mile from Aberystwyth town centre
  • A 10-minute drive from Borth beach; 20 minutes from Devil's Bridge
  • Easy access from main roads; dogs welcome
Make the most of Ceredigion’s countryside and set your compass to Bryncarnedd Caravan Park, a mile outside of Aberystwyth town centre. It is indeed a splendid spot here on what was once a busy dairy farm, and handily you’ll be well set for getting into town for shops, restaurants and attractions when you want them. These days, this place has been transformed into a peaceful caravan park with holiday lets in the surrounding old farm buildings. Dogs are welcome to join you on the pitches here – there are plenty of places to take them (or yourselves) for a walk on local pathways. Easy access to the local main roads (A44 and A487) means that it’s straightforward to get out and about for the area’s many activities and attractions, be they beaches, birdwatching, bike riding or exploring the area around Devils Bridge (waterfalls and cool bridges included). Back on site, though, there are well-maintained facilities, including a play area, washing-up area, chemical disposal point and modern bathroom block with toilets and showers to rinse off after a full-on day of adventuring.

Powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: It was a very nice campsite . Clean and tidy . Good showers . Would recommend it . The only one around that area close to the town centre.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike about the campsite . There is no reception you just pay on line and pick a pitch and cctv picks up your number plate on entrance. The walk to town is around 10-15 minutes . It’s a lovely walk on a nice day as it’s all down hill but a steep hill back . There are buses and can get a taxi but if you’re fit enough it’s a nice walk .

Powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: The showers are okay. You could do the dishes with hot water.

Disliked: there is now reception, you have to find out where the "pitchup pitches 1-11" are (at the far end). The toilets where awful smelling and like a black box and its a good walk. The pitches are hardstanding with grass but only 1 of 11 fairly level. The dog waste bin was filled to the top when we arrived and weren't emptied the next 3 days. There's no WiFi, and a sign says who complains is no longer welcome!

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Close to Aberystwyth town centre.
Horse in the field.

Disliked: Toilet block was dirty.
Noisy people at 3am in the lodges.
Workmen living in the lodges were also noisy at midnight.
Park is very small and broken.
Noisy main road next to campsite.
No soap in toilet block.
No reception to check in.
No shop onsite.
More geared up for caravans - should not have tents staying there really.

Powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: Play area for kids. Top facility area clean.

Disliked: Not enough facilities. Given a pitch number by pitch up
. When we arrived someone was on the pitch, we had booked adjoining pitches because we were with family. We had to find two pitches which unfortunately were not level as all the level pitches had been taken. There was a sign on the fence saying pitchup, use any pitch between 1-11. Fine if you are on your own. Grill over chemical toilet disposal area, caught most things you were trying to get rid off.

Local attractions

Once you’ve got your bearings, you’ll want to get clued up on exactly what’s close by. Aberystwyth (five minutes’ drive) has a castle, cliff railway and the nostalgic Vale of Rheidol Railway, while Borth beach (10 minutes) will sort out swimming, surfing, fishing, sailing and windsurfing fans. For walks surrounded by pleasant coastal scenery, the Ynyslas beach and nature reserve (15 minutes) is a sure bet for that sort of stuff, while the Bwlch Nant yr Arian Forest Visitor Centre (15 minutes) has plenty of walks or bike trails in a forest setting instead. There's also red kite feeding activities to mix things up a little there. Put your smarts to the test… you’ll find a few things to wrap your head around at the Centre for Alternative Technology (35 minutes). Meanwhile, Corris Craft Centre (35 minutes) will be a test of your artistic skills instead, while the Silver Mountain Experience (20 minutes) has escape rooms and tours around a Victorian mine. And what about King Arthur's Labyrinth (40 minutes), where re-enactments and boat tours bring the legends to life? Handily, with your guide, you shouldn't get too lost inside the Snowdonia mountains…
