Make the most of Ceredigion’s countryside and set your compass to Bryncarnedd Caravan Park, a mile outside of Aberystwyth town centre. It is indeed a splendid spot here on what was once a busy dairy farm, and handily you’ll be well set for getting into town for shops, restaurants and attractions when you want them. These days, this place has been transformed into a peaceful caravan park with holiday lets in the surrounding old farm buildings. Dogs are welcome to join you on the pitches here – there are plenty of places to take them (or yourselves) for a walk on local pathways. Easy access to the local main roads (A44 and A487) means that it’s straightforward to get out and about for the area’s many activities and attractions, be they beaches, birdwatching, bike riding or exploring the area around Devils Bridge (waterfalls and cool bridges included). Back on site, though, there are well-maintained facilities, including a play area, washing-up area, chemical disposal point and modern bathroom block with toilets and showers to rinse off after a full-on day of adventuring. There's no reception on site, and there's a simple self-check-in system so that you can get straight to the important things: relaxing. There is, however, a manager on site 24 hours per day, plus a modern camera system.

Gostou The toilet facilities were good. Lovely showers. Convient location for driving into Aberystwyth.

Não gostou Pitch up does what it says on the tin, it's impersonal - you just rock up and choose a pitch, no-one to tell you where things are. The fresh water tap is on the fence near pitch up place 1 - just for info as it took us ages to find it. There is a chemical loo but no drive over drain for grey waste water which is not helpful to motorhomes. Pitches are quite close together. We were on hardstanding which was pebbles, this caused damage to our ramps which we had to use to get level. The chap next to us used his upside-down, which I thought was an excellent solution. The gents toilets were not clean, ladies were OK. We are used to caravan and motorhome club sites and considering this is the same price, it's definitely not the same standard.

Gostou We booked quite late on for bank holiday weekend so there wasn’t many options left. There was mixed reviews but with it being our first time camping we didn’t let the negative ones influence us and we’re glad we didn’t. For the price you pay, we had a great time. Shower blocks and toilets seemed to be regularly cleaned, play area / field for children to play, we had a pitch area with plenty of space. 2 minute drive into Aberr, you could walk it but taxi it back as it’s all uphill. We would definitely return.

Não gostou Only complaint would be queuing for washing up, could do with maybe an extra station but other wise we had a great time!

Gostou Bryncarnedd caravan park is close by and walking distance into Aberystwyth town centre and promenade.
Downhill going, up hill back but local buses available to bring back up and not expensive in taxi.

Não gostou The toilet/shower blocks were not great no hand soap or hand dryers in the toilets.
Only 1 ladies toilets the others are unisex blocks.
Campers were setting up tents on the grass area between the caravans, we came back from a day out to find a tent right at the back of our caravan.

Gostou Easy walking distance downhill to the city. And a short walk from the bus back the T2.
Quiet site.
Uthe showers are hot and good.

Não gostou The toilets are awful. Only 2. Unisex so men use them stood up so you are treating in their wee. The light switch cord is filthy.
Just smelled of wee, in a tin can that felt dirty and unhygienic.
And just 2 !

Once you’ve got your bearings, you’ll want to get clued up on exactly what’s close by. Aberystwyth (five minutes’ drive) has a castle, cliff railway and the nostalgic Vale of Rheidol Railway, while Borth beach (10 minutes) will sort out swimming, surfing, fishing, sailing and windsurfing fans. For walks surrounded by pleasant coastal scenery, the Ynyslas beach and nature reserve (15 minutes) is a sure bet for that sort of stuff, while the Bwlch Nant yr Arian Forest Visitor Centre (15 minutes) has plenty of walks or bike trails in a forest setting instead. There's also red kite feeding activities to mix things up a little there. Put your smarts to the test… you’ll find a few things to wrap your head around at the Centre for Alternative Technology (35 minutes). Meanwhile, Corris Craft Centre (35 minutes) will be a test of your artistic skills instead, while the Silver Mountain Experience (20 minutes) has escape rooms and tours around a Victorian mine. And what about King Arthur's Labyrinth (40 minutes), where re-enactments and boat tours bring the legends to life? Handily, with your guide, you shouldn't get too lost inside the Snowdonia mountains…
