What customers say
Guests rave about the peaceful vibe, roomy, tidy sites, and scenic rural setting. Farm animals, a stream, and fire pits are big hits. Composting toilets and no showers were drawbacks for some, but many liked the eco-focus. The farm shop and local spots get good mentions. Manager replies show they're improving and are welcoming.

This is our favourite campsite. So…
Power optional grass campsite
Liked This is our favourite campsite. So relaxed and large pitches. The stream is a welcome hideout from the heat and the kids love seeing all the animals.

From the manager: Hi - thank you - love that you keep coming back.
Was a fabulous weekend. Will definitely be back.
Meadow primitive grass campsite
Liked You could pitch anywhere
The river (as was so cool in the 30*c of heat)
Watching the goats being milked at 8.30am
Feeding the goats and other animals
Disliked Compost loos were a little smelly in the heat (the owner did put some lavender in, which helped)
Some of the bigger groups were quite loud as all camping together and the children were running around all the tents.

From the manager: Hi,
Glad you enjoyed your stay. I'm sorry you were disturbed by some other camper children - I think normally people are much more spread out as the field is so big but everyone just wanted to get near the trees for some shade so hopefully another time there would be less noise.
Great private pitches separated by hedges…
Power optional grass campsite
Liked Great private pitches separated by hedges and far apart. Very flat ground too

So much potential , but def not one for us
Power optional grass campsite
Liked The space of the pitches , and it was very quiet. Having a seperate fire area
Disliked Compost toilets, need sawdust .
The second field looked a bit like a shanty town , the river was reallya stream and the trees could of been cut back a bit to make it astatically pleasing. The outside bbq area (guessing thats what it was) either needs to be re done or just got rid of. Just generally the whole site needs a tidy and a bit of tlc.

From the manager: Hi - it sounds like we weren't the right fit for you but we appreciate your feedback.
The compost loos: we add the sawdust or straw ourselves as when we left it for customers to do, the urine part of the separating seat just kept getting blocked up (we have a lot of children coming to stay)
We have a number of storage caravans and seasonal pitches on field two. We're not the sort of site that has lots of rules about keeping everything tidy and 'perfect' so I'm sorry that bothered you.
We are a low impact back-to-basics site so we do let the trees grow and leave some areas a bit 'wilder' to hopefully support wildlife. Thats the way we like it and the many people that keep coming back obviously like it too. But totally understand that it wasn't one for you.
When Ian has finished the house, I'll make sure he gets back on to finishing the round house on campsite 1.
Super friendly site. We stayed in…
Power optional grass campsite
Liked Super friendly site. We stayed in a caravan with electric pitch. The pitch size was extremely generous with well established hedges and trees surrounding each pitch, which offered a good bit of privacy. In campsite 1, where the pitches are marked out, there is a lovely green space in the middle. Its just so spacious. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The site shop is well stocked. Its an added bonus that you can visit and feed the goats and say hello to the pigs and donkeys.
The toilet facilities are clean and very well kept given that they are compost toilets. There 2 compost toilets on campsite one and a fresh water tap. Also a chemical toilet disposal area.
The electric hook ups are dead easy to use.
The campsite is in easy walking distance and the 3 pubs in the village. Wells is a short drive away for a larger Supermarket Morrisons and Lidl.
Disliked We found this site perfect for us, nothing directly connected to the site to dislike, if Im being picky, better 4G/WiFi would be good.

Great place with kids and dogs
Meadow primitive grass campsite
Liked We had a great stay at this campsite and have already rebooked for August!
The campsite is set across two fields. One has marked pitches some with electric hook-up, own fire pits, individual bins and more shade, while in the other field you can choose where you pitch, although there is less shade.
There is a small shop on site and farm animals that you can feed, which my children absolutely loved. There is a £1 machine where you can buy a bowl of animal feed. The shallow river was another huge hit and perfect for paddling, looking for interesting stones and trying to catch tiny fish, so definitely bring a net! There are also little tree swings dotted around and plenty of space for ball games.
We had originally planned to go out and explore the local area, but the children were so happy splashing in the river, visiting the animals and playing that we barely left the campsite. They also made friends with some lovely children from other families, which was great to see. It felt like a really safe place for children to have a little independence and freedom.
There were a few larger groups staying when we visited, but everyone was respectful of other campers and there was no noise after 11pm. There is also a town nearby for any amenities you might need.
I really liked the campsite’s ethos, particularly the focus on recycling. It is a working farm, so some areas aren’t pristine and polished, but personally I liked that—it adds to the relaxed, authentic feel of the place.
The toilets are composting toilets, so there is some smell when you’re inside them, but nothing beyond what you would normally expect from this type of toilet. There are no showers, but for our two-night stay this really didn’t bother us.
A relaxed, family-friendly campsite with plenty of space, simple outdoor fun and a lovely atmosphere. The fact that we’ve already booked to come back in August probably says it all!
Disliked Honestly, nothing really! If I was being incredibly picky, the grass could perhaps have done with a mow, but this certainly didn’t affect our stay or enjoyment of the campsite.

From the manager: Thank you - really glad you enjoyed your stay and are coming back!
On the meadow field, we mow sections and leave the grass longer inbetween. Partly because it encourages wild flowers, and butterflies etc and also because in the autumn we put the goats in to graze that grass so need there to be something for them to eat :)
I love your suggestion of picnic packs and will see if I can get something like that going. Not sure I've got time to make bread though... but its a great idea so thank you.
Great spot to pass through really pretty will be hard to beat

Great place, really relaxed atmosphere. Was bliss.
Primitive grass tent campsite (small)
Liked Amazing camp site. Really relaxed, no silly rules. Had a really great time.
Best campsite we've stayed on yet.
We usually go to commercial ones but won't be doing that again.
Disliked No dislikes. Everything great.
Maybe a very simple outdoor shower would be easy to do.. (a hose connected to a shower head) although the river was nearby so that was good enough for us.. 👌

From the manager: Thanks - hope you can come again.
