Pitches for family and group bookings
Spacious electric pitches with parking by the tent

  • Quiet, family-friendly Devon site 10 minutes’ drive from Woolacombe
  • Exmoor National Park 15 minutes’ drive and the Tarka Trail 20 minutes
  • Dog-walking area; easy access to footpaths, a pub and public transport
Surfers, walkers and cyclists, listen up… staying at Little Shelfin Farm Camping puts you in pole position for the excellent breaks off Woolacombe Beach (10 minutes’ drive), long-distance hiking on the Tarka Trail (20 minutes) and a mere 15 minutes by car from the cycling routes in Exmoor National Park. There’s plenty more that’s good about this small and quiet family-run site on an 80-acre working farm. The spacious pitches have plenty of room between them, with room for awnings and cars, and they sit on a large field with a modern toilet block and wide-open spaces so kids can have a run around or a kickabout. Dogs are welcome here as well, and there’s a small run dedicated to canine exercise (please pick up after them, though). Several public footpaths can be accessed a short walk away from the camping field (the dogs will be pleased to get extra walkies), and you can catch a bus to Woolacombe within a 10-minute stroll. A pub serving pizzas, steaks and fries all day is about the same distance away at Mullacott.

What customers say

Great value, friendly spot with large, level sites and clean, basic facilities. Praised for its quiet ambiance & location. Kids/dogs have plenty of room. Minor notes: more hooks/better hand dryers in showers; clearer water point signs & safer exit to busy road.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked We had a fantastic stay and will definitely be returning. The campsite is incredibly dog-friendly – almost every camper seemed to have a dog, and the dedicated dog field was perfect for letting them run and play. The toilets and showers were always spotless, with plenty of toilet roll available throughout our stay. The whole site had such a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere and a lovely community feel. It’s also ideally located, with easy access to Ilfracombe and the surrounding areas. We can’t wait to come back!

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Free to come and go. Good size pitchs. Toilets, showers and washing up area good.

Disliked Not massive amount of staff about but also didn't actively go looking for them.
The depot pub close by was very expensive for breakfast but might of been better for dinner.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Very basic and peaceful, pitches are well spaced and facilities were very clean. Only a 5 min walk to a bus stop to take you into Ilfracombe

Disliked Says there is ice block freezing however this was at the owners house so had to drop them off and go back to collect them by knowing on their door, would’ve been nice to just use this as we needed.
The grass in the non electric field was also quite long.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked There's not a lot I liked about this site, the price is reasonable

Disliked This site has had numerus things pointed out to it over a few years and still nothing has been done ie
No mirror on opposite side of road on exit, making it much safer to leave.
No way to get to pub just up the road, just walking on a road, which has very fast traffic on a narrow road with high banks.
No additional hooks in showers
No shower curtain to protect your clothes while showering.
No way to dry your hands in either toilet block.
No roof over washing up place, you get wet when its raining.

We were there for 9 nights and all the time there was NO soap in the men’s toilets, as we paid upfront we couldn’t leave without paying again. We will never do that again!

ALL THESE THING ARE VERY CHEAP TO RESOLVE TO MAKE THE SITE MUCH BETTER.

From the manager: Hi
Thank you for your feedback. We have applied several times to the council to install a mirror which has been denied on several occasions so this is now out of our control.
There is easy access to the pub via a footpath if you had spoken to us we would have directed you to this.
We have planned some renovation over winter to cover the washing up area.
We have had shower curtains and hooks but over the season many people have chosen to take or break both and we cannot continuously replace this.

Local attractions

Ilfracombe (five minutes’ drive) has a sheltered harbour and a rugged coastline with small pockets of beach and plenty of rockpools. Cheyne and Wildersmouth beaches are dog-friendly, but do keep an eye on tide times. Meanwhile, the tidal pool at the Tunnels Beaches can be accessed via a series of 18th-century galleries carved out of the cliff. For ‘Jurassic Park’-type thrills, head to Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park (15 minutes), which has several lifesize animatronic prehistoric beasts, including a fearsome T-Rex that roars on the hour. Real living animals include primates, wolves and wallabies. Those who are after a moment of calm explore the splendid botanical gardens, with rare trees and natural streams. National Trust - Arlington Court and the National Trust Carriage Museum (20 minutes) is a centuries-old estate with a stone mansion and elegant gardens. In the stables of the house, the interesting collection of carriages ranges from simple servants’ carts to an elaborately gilded coach with painted panels.
