  • Superbly located Surrey campsite with easy motorway access
  • Thorpe Park, Windsor Castle and Legoland Windsor within 30 mins' drive
  • On the banks of the River Thames, with Thames Path access
What a handy camping spot this is… Laleham Camping Club has easy access to the M3 and M25 motorways, it’s close to Heathrow airport and Staines railway station is only about 10 minutes’ drive away for easy jaunts to the capital. On top of all that, there are all sorts of attractions within easy reach, including Thorpe Park, Chessington World of Adventures, Windsor Castle and Legoland Windsor. And if that all sounds a bit exhausting, it’s good to know that the location within London’s protected Green Belt means you’ll have peaceful surroundings for relaxing on site. The River Thames runs alongside, giving you access to the Thames Path for walks and bike rides, or to the water for kayaking, paddleboarding and swims. The nearest major urban centre is Staines, accessible by car, bus or a walk along the riverbank and with a good collection of shops and restaurants, plus a cinema. Closer to home, Laleham village is 10 minutes’ stroll away, and has a convenience store and a choice of three pubs. The folk that run this Surrey site haven’t just relied on their location, though – they’ve made sure the place is a comfortable place to stay, with a good number of facilities including a launderette, free hot showers and handy extras including hairdryers and shaver points. Chillout time is well spent here too – there’s a small play park with sandpit in the centre of the site, and a wet-weather room with Sky TV, a pool table, table tennis and a dartboard. Next door in Laleham Park there’s an outdoor gym, a bigger play park and plenty of space to play games or walk dogs.

Liked: For a spontaneous camping trip inside the M25 I was pleasantly surprised.
The staff were lovely, including recognising we were not on their best pitch to say the least and finding us something better without me saying anything. Showers hot and free. Washing up room and laundry. Play area very much for younger children but ours very happily went to the playground in the park next door.
Bring SUP / kayak / canoe!

Power optional grass campsite

Liked: I've visited here a few times as a solo camper. I splashed out this time and got the electrical hook up as I was with my teenage son. Loved being able to use a firepit and having electric made life so much easier. The site is well maintained and the staff are helpful and friendly.

Disliked: On the first night, a group of young males (maybe 6 of them) were being loud and they ignored the 10pm quiet time, drinking, laughing, and shouting till past 2 am!.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked: This site has a lovely, relaxed atmosphere and a really friendly vibe. What makes it stand out most, though, is the staff — they’re present, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. Whether we needed a pub recommendation or general advice, they were happy to help.

The pitches were flat and there were plenty of water and electric hook-up points available throughout. Those along the river are flanked by trees, offering some welcome shade if needed.

The toilet facilities were basic but plentiful and kept clean. They were well thought out, with enough space to put things down and a large mirror in the ladies' (which was very handy!).

The site also has a playground and marked pitches for sports, which the kids were making good use of. These are centrally located so they’re easy for everyone to access. There are also picnic benches and a games room to enjoy.

It’s about a 15-minute walk into Laleham, where we had dinner both nights at The Three Horseshoes. The food wasn’t cheap, but it was excellent — well worth it in our opinion.

Walking in the other direction, it took us about 35–40 minutes to reach Chertsey. It’s a pleasant stroll along the river and over the bridge, with plenty of pubs, cafés, and supermarkets once you get there. If we’d had bikes, there would’ve been even more to explore further afield.

Liked: Travelled with a friend and our 10/11 year olds.
Really impressed with the staff - they were welcoming and friendly, great with the kids, and helped to entertain them by finding a scavenger hunt they could do. Other staff were playing football with some kids.
Toilets and showers were great and clean. There’s a little park on site great for younger kids, and one great for older kids just outside the gate so they went on their own to that - but we could still see them from where we were pitched.

Location was handy for getting in to London for the day.

Sporting sorts might also like to look out for events at Ascot Racecourse or Twickenham Stadium (both 25 minutes).
