What customers say

This well-run, spotless campsite boasts friendly, helpful staff, roomy spots, and a charming woodland setting. Guests rave about the clean, modern showers and restrooms. Easy access to local sights and trails is a plus. A few noted road noise and spotty Wi-Fi, with some finding local shops a hike. Highly recommended, many plan to return.

Powered gravel and cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Friendly receptionist, fantastic size pitch, peaceful site.Well maintained pitches and grass areas.

Disliked No water on pitch, we were in a motorhome with only on-board water tank and waste water tank, had to drive to water point. OK for 1 night but a faff if staying longer as would have to keep moving to fill up. The waste water was in same place, no grate for emptying a mototorhome waste tank directly, could only be done if had buckets etc to drain tank into then pour away, we ended up emptying at home.
Hubby went to use the shower and it was locked, someone was in there, considering the amount of pitches if they only have 1 male and 1 female shower and toilet that is not enough.
For £30 for 1 night it seemed excessively expensive for what it was with no water or grey waste on the pitch

From the manager: Whilst we're happy to hear that you found the site peaceful and our team friendly, we are very disappointed that you felt your stay warranted such a low score.
With regards to the points made; we do not advertise that we have service pitches, and photos of our campsite clearly show that we do not have service pitches and instead have service points dotted around the park. We always advise that campers do their own research when booking campsites, to avoid booking somewhere that does not meet their needs. We do however have a grey waste point for motorhomes to use. Our service points have fresh drinking water & a chemical toilet disposal point on each but there is a separate drainage point for motorhomes. All information is given at check in but we understand it can be a lot of info to take in and remember, however our reception is open from 9am every day and our team are on hand to give you any info you need; as it so happens the drainage point was opposite your pitch. With regards to the showers, we have 2 female showers and 2 male showers in use throughout the winter, as well as a disabled toilet/shower, for campers to use. As well as the 2 shower rooms in each, we also have 2 separate toilet cubicles in each block. This has always been an ample amount throughout the winter, and in the summer we have extra facilities, but unfortunately we can't control when other campers decide to use the facilities. If you have a look at campsites in the area, offering similar facilities to we do, you will find we are competitively priced however we do appreciate that everyone's budgets are different. We wish you safe travels in the future, The Oak View Team.

Powered gravel and cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Lovely welcome, nice quiet site. This is our 5th time staying here. It's only 20 mins from home but ideal place to just get away from stresses of daily life and just relax. Toilets/washing up room clean and warm. Nice walk in private woods. Pitch black at night, so nice to see stars. Always feel refreshed when we leave.

Disliked Going home.

Powered gravel and cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked We only stayed one night, but loved it and will definitely return.
There was something really calming and magical about the setting, primarily because of the beautiful trees at this time.
Also very clean; a handy woodland stroll for the dog and very friendly staff.

From the manager: Thank you so much for this review Chris.

The trees have been particularly beautiful this year, to do with the dry summer that we have had apparently. The colours have been amazing. It is a pretty park all year round, when it snows its like Narnia, beautiful.

We would really love to see you again soon. The Oak View Team. 😊

Liked Wonderful site! Wish we could have stayed longer.
We were greeted by Ruth who was very friendly and helpful. She happily moved us when we realised we had another dog next to us. Lovely little woodland walk on site which was great
The washrooms had cubicles with everything in plus separate toilets. Other sites it’s a pain when all the toilets are all in the shower cubicles.
Beautiful site at this time of year surrounded by trees very peaceful.

From the manager: Wow! Thank you so much for your wonderful all the 10's review! Lovely photo's too!

We are pleased that you were happy with your pitch, and were more than happy to move you as we didn't want your dear little old lady dog to be intimidated by the rather much larger dog on the pitch adjoining. We are always happy to find a more suitable pitch for our customers if we have availability, we want you all to enjoy your stay as much as possible.

See you again! The Oak View Team.

Powered gravel and cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Peacefull surroundings, clean and tidy, nice walk for dogs, staff friendly, on arrival everything explained and shown to pitch, good space between pitches, shower blocks clean and tidy

Disliked Meter charge for electric, having to check meter regular making sure it hasnt run out, you do get £3.50 free per day, so if you run out coming to the end of your stay, you have to top it up

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you Melvyn for taking time to write us a review. We are pleased that you did like most things.

We are sorry to hear that you didn't like being given a meter. As we are now in low season, and are trialing these, we have started to use them. We are sure that you will understand that due to the horrendous price of electric this is something that more and more campsites are doing. For us it is better to do it this way than increase the price of the pitch.

Before you arrive, we will pre-load your meter ready for you with £3.50 per nights worth of units, you receive this as part of the price you have paid for the pitch. We will show you how to use the meter and make sure that you are happy with understanding how it works before we leave you and we are always on hand to help. We do ask you to check it every night before the office shuts at 5pm for your own peace of mind as we wouldn't like you to run out overnight. In the time we have been using them, no one has ever done this and our customers rarely have to top up as generally, £3.50 per day covers normal usage.

We hope tat this reassures all our customers. We do hope to see you again. The Oak View Team.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Well sized, clean warm showers. Nice flat area to pitch your tent and the site seems to be very well sheltered from the wind despite its high elevation…we were there at the tail end of storm Amy.

Disliked Can’t really think of any dislikes, if you are looking to pitch a tent in the area near the Pilgrims Way you can’t go wrong.

Local attractions

Oak View Holiday Park is in prime position to traverse the best of Kent's countryside, coast, castles and well-known gardens – with Essex and its coast easily accessible too just to the north. Plenty of pedalling and perambulating opportunities are around the North Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, such as the 153-mile route of the North Downs National Trail through from Farnham to Canterbury, passing the White Cliffs of Dover. This takes in the 119-mile Pilgrims' Way, the supposed route of Thomas Becket from Winchester to Canterbury Cathedral. Elsewhere in Kent, loads is on all year round in the 500 acres of parkland and formal gardens at lovely Leeds Castle (10 minutes’ drive), like free falconry displays, play areas, special events and making one's way intrepidly out of the castle maze. Also see Rochester Castle (20 minutes) on the east bank of the Medway for its 12th-century keep and stacks of historical info: the castle was sacked during the Peasants' Revolt, held for Henry III against the barons, and besieged (also because of barons) by bad King John. And of course, just next door is the Kent Showground, which hosts all sorts of events throughout the year (the most famed being the Kent County Show, which usually runs for three days in July).
