  • Peaceful pitches 10 minutes’ drive from Deal in Kent countryside
  • Sandwich Bay 15 minutes’ drive; Howletts Wild Animal Park 25 minutes
  • On-site café; lakeside dog-walking routes; fishing (additional fee)
Set in the Kent countryside, Cottington Lakes has a peaceful spot that should suit anglers, nature lovers, families and dog owners – and pretty much everyone really. The pitches are a couple of minutes' walk away from the on-site fishing lakes (which can be used for an additional fee for a valid fishing permit), should you fancy getting stuck into some early-morning fishing or a booked swim. Non-anglers are welcome to go for a relaxing lakeside stroll (with or without the dog) on the marked paths around the eight scenic fishing lakes. When you’re ready for a bite to eat or a hot drink, the Cottington Lakes Café is also just a couple of minutes’ walk away, serving tasty meals, light snacks and refreshments alongside views over the water. Whether you fancy lazy afternoons in nature or quiet evenings under the stars, this is a great spot to unwind and fall in love with being outdoors. The spacious grass pitches have access to on-site toilet and shower facilities for added comfort. There’s a small shop covering all the basics, and the site is also close to historic Deal and the medieval Cinque Port of Sandwich (both 10 minutes’ drive) if you need bigger shops or fancy meals out in pubs and restaurants.

South field primitive grass campsite

Liked Nettes Personal, sehr schöne Standplätze in toller Natur!

Disliked Nur eine Dusche und Toilette für Männer und nur eine Dusche und Toilette für Frauen. Sehr alte sanitäre Anlagen, Duschen sehr eng! Müllplatz - ziemliche Sauerei.

North field powered cement/asphalt and grass campsite

Liked Really nice site set among several pretty fishing lakes. Good family atmosphere. Nice cafe onsite. Showers and toilets basic but clean. Staff friendly. Walking distance to Deal.

Disliked We were there for three days and for the duration there was a big pile of bottles next to the bins. It’s a shame as the site was perfect otherwise.

North field powered cement/asphalt and grass campsite

Liked My wife and I enjoyed it here, in a lovely setting surrounded by fishing lakes. Very basic no frills and good value. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Don’t expect luxury, all in all good value for money. An anglers paradise, with an angling shop onsite. The place was geared up for fishing which is great.

Disliked A minor point, only one male and female toilet and one shower each. They were dated but very clean and frequently kept clean. The bins were unsightly and could be screeded off and tidied, but none of this spoilt our time here.

North field powered cement/asphalt and grass campsite

Liked Lovely site with fishing lakes, nice and clean.

Disliked Only 1 shower and 2 toilets in each cloak room on site, ( there was 1 disabled loo too) made it very tricky and quite a wait especially for the shower.

North field primitive grass campsite

Liked Close to Dover, big enough site and plenty of room around us.
Cafe was a welcome added bonus for hot rolls and coffee.

Disliked When we stayed, some of the surrounding roads were closed meaning diversions were in place. Not familiar with the area and already having a long drive just add more travelling time that we didn’t really need or want.
I did have a cold shower in the morning. Not sure if that was because my two were showered first or if it’s normal after a period of time. Kids showers were good though.

North field powered cement/asphalt and grass campsite

Liked Its all neat and tidy and well run

Disliked We had no idea it was basically a Fishing Lake. So the whole set up is about fishing. The views are very basic and the atmosphere is one of sport fishing. So we left and went wild camping instead. I don't fault the place. I think PitchUp lacked details of appropriate description
