- Eco site in the Hampshire countryside
- Within easy reach of both London and the south coast
- Showers, toilets and large open areas for kids to play
As little environmental impact as poss is the name of the game at Hampshire's Cedar Valley: this is a simple site for those who like camping deep in countryside but who still like their comforts such as showers, toilets and wash basins.
Cedar Valley is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, set deep in scenic Hampshire countryside but within easy reach of both London and the south coast. The South Downs Way is nearby for hikes, fishing (and fishing lessons) are a couple of miles away at Meon Valley Springs, and clay pigeon shooting can be arranged on site.
But you may care to laze around the grounds for some significant time too: the canny team here has added a firepit shack with candle lanterns and plenty of seating, for communal campfires whatever the weather, and a 'tree castle' is also on site to clamber.
Pitches at Cedar Valley are in a large grassy field near Bereleigh House, where you can roam the field and finding just the perfect place. There's also a designated mown area where kids can play football, fly kites and generally muck around to their little hearts' content: you might find they don't want to leave...

Please do not enter Cedar Valley via the brick and flint walled entrance to Bereleigh House : this is a private road and not for public use.
Get out via two wheels: several decent bike tracks are on the estate itself or you can pedal off around the area's many lanes and bike routes. A good run is to Petersfield six miles away, to stock up on armfuls of fresh produce at the Wednesday and Saturday markets.
If trotting's more your thing, ask the Cedar Valley team about the pony rides available in the surrounding countryside: both experienced and amateur riders can take their pick from three-hour rides through first-class woodland, or around the area's cross-country course. If you prefer your equine animals at a speedy distance, the racecourse at Goodwood is about half an hour's drive away.
More of a foot-based wanderer? The Cedar Valley team has mapped out many walks in the area so you can wander off to see where your feets might take you. The South Downs Way is close by: try the walk from Petersfield to Cocking, via Nursted Copse and Harting Down.
