We stayed in George for two…
George shepherd's hut
Liked We stayed in George for two nights, 2 adults and our two children (17 & 13). The hut and kitchen have absolutely everything you need, no need to pack any kitchen items including plates and cups etc. The hut is really homely and cosy, and the 4 of us fit in really comfortably. We had amazing weather so managed to cook and sit outside late into the evening, we used the fire pit too which was another lovely touch. The site itself is so peaceful, the way the huts are placed you really feel like you are the only ones there! We were dreading using the shower but it was actually a very pleasant experience!!! The owners are lovely, nothing is too much and they are happy to help with any local places to go. Getting up for the loo in the middle of the night and seeing the sky bursting with bright stars was brilliant!!! We will definitely go back one day.
Disliked I’m fussy so the compost toilet was never going to be my favourite part of the stay. That said, the toilets are spotlessly clean and do the job they are there to do!
A freezer compartment to store ice for drinks would be handy.

Liked The location and grounds were loverly and it was kept in great condition. We only stayed one night on the way home from the lakes and the kids wanted to stay longer. They loved the horses.

Great experience in beaufiful surroundings.
Betty shepherd's hut
Liked Great instructions on how to get there, and a warm welcome. The hut was clean and comfortable and we pitched our tent. The kitchen provided everything we needed. The compost toilet was easy to use, as was the shower. Beautiful surroundings.

Thomas shepherd's hut
Liked The managers Kat and Andy are wonderful, very approachable and accommodating!
We didn’t stay in Thomas as they realised it was a bit small (although still lovely) for us as we had a baby and a dog but the alternative pod we stayed in was lovely as well with a bit more space.
We stayed in the summer and enjoyed the off the grid experience with the composting loos which were pleasant and very well kept and the outside shower is lovely!
The area is beautiful and the site was lovely and dog friendly!
Will definitely look to stay again in future!
Disliked Nothing, although a little tricky to find with no phone signal so definitely recommend downloading the instructions before travelling there!

Great family getaway, perfect location and amazing days out.
George shepherd's hut
Liked Everything really, the shepard huts were cosy with little added touches like marshmellows and water provided.
Well stocked amenities from pot's, pans etc..
Loved the outdoor shower and the composte toilets very very clean.
A tranquil experience where you could walk around the meadow and see some farm animals.
Perfect location as we went to Hadrians Wall, Lowther Castle, Griezdale Forrest etc all within 1hr-1hr 30mins away.
Space between huts meant you had your own area to chill with a campfire and picnic bench.
Owners were amazing there if you needed them. I can't fault this place.
Disliked Nothing.

Great place for a relaxing time.
George shepherd's hut
Liked Love quiet location, welcoming hosts. Everything you need. Was great not having g technology and sitting round a camp fire chatting away to the early hours. Was worried about the compost toilet, they were clean and fresh.

We had the best time here.…
Ruby shepherd's hut
Liked We had the best time here. The units gave a large space, in the middle of a wildlife haven, with all amenities provided. It was off grid which really took you away from the day to day. The owners were lovely and on hand wherever needed, checking regularly while keeping the place clean and tidy throughout. I also liked the open air shower and eco toilets and we took advantage of their walkways to see the steam and pony's in the field next door. Nature surrounded you with the sounds of the farm.

Thomas shepherd's hut
Liked When we arrived the host greeted us and showed us around (and even upgraded us since it was only us there that weekend!). Stayed in a cozy pod which had a small kitchen around the side. A unique campsite with all the facilities, and even some bonuses such as breakfast items and board games. Definitely recommend.
