Foxwold Huts and Camping

Ik was blij met We had a wonderful stay in the shepherd’s hut. The accommodation was clean, peaceful, and very well maintained. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and friendly, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived.

We had everything we needed, with excellent facilities provided. The quiet surroundings made it the perfect place to relax and unwind.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and tranquil getaway. We would happily return in the future.

Ik was blij met We had a lovely time staying in Betty plus a little tent. The site is beautiful! Lovely and quiet with plenty space on each pitch. We went more into the Lakes (super busy!) a couple of times but really enjoyed coming back to the lovely farm for some relaxing! Loved the open air shower, the compost toilets were spotless and Kat and Andy were super helpful and friendly with any queries! Thanks to Andy for the tip to go to Haweswater reservoir and the surrounding hills, we had a stunning walk! We certainly lucked out with the weather! Would love to come back and stay here sometime in the future!

Ik was blij met A beautiful stay! The stove in Ruby was amazing- a better stove than I ever could have expected in a shepherd’s hut. And the lovely grown out meadow feel of the space was amazing. So man fruit trees and bushes mean the place is buzzing with bird and insect life. To top it all off, we had the whole place to ourselves as it was so early in the season. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay.

Ik was blij met Lovely welcome from the owners, the site is an absolute dream, plenty of space for your pups or kids. Clean and quiet (we visited mid April) pods have everything you need, outside kitchen is a little gem.
We booked last minute (literally on the day) and everything was great.

Ik was blij met A beautiful and quiet site. Really couldn't have asked for more with regards to facilities, cooking equipment and standard of accommodation. The hosts were great with a little tour of the site to begin and an explanation of where everything was and how to use things. The location is a bit off the beaten track and the toilets and shower are were an eye opener for the kids...but hey, this camping. It felt really safe for the kids to go and explore and pet the animals.

Ik was blij met What’s not to love! We had the best time at Foxwolds in the lovely Ruby hut. We originally booked George, and we can’t thank Kat enough for recommending that we move to Ruby so we had a log burner to warm the hut on the chilly October nights. The hut has everything you need to settle right in and enjoy this beautiful part of the world. We explored the Dales and the Lakes, both of which are an hour or less away. The campsite itself is peaceful and private, the huts are well spaced apart and we were lucky enough to have the campsite to ourselves for most of our stay. An absolute highlight has to be the beautiful starry skies complete with shooting stars, which were well worth getting up at 3am for! Thanks again Kat and family for the wonderful stay, we can’t wait to come back.

Ik was blij met We actually stayed in Ruby which is slightly larger than Thomas, as that was available and the owners told us the stove was better in there. Very snug and cosy with a wood burner going.

There are four shepherds huts on the site, each with plenty of space around it and open air cooking facilities outside the hut which in the case of Ruby is a sort of lean to which does shelter you if it’s raining.

In Ruby, the bed is on a sort of mezzanine level at the far end of the van and there’s a space underneath for your luggage, or if you have dogs like we do, they can sleep there.

We wish we’d been able to stay for more than just the one night, we were passing through on our way back to Manchester after staying in Scotland. Unfortunately, it was raining so heavily when we got there that we didn’t fancy trying to cook so we had a chippy tea from Shap which is only about 15-20 minutes drive away.

Each vsn has a little fire pit you can use - they even provided marshmallows for toasting in our little welcome pack - and also a picnic bench to sit on, and if we’ve had the lovely weather we had the following morning on the night we arrived, we would’ve loved to have used it.

There is also a little hut with a fridge in there that everybody can use, and if I remember right you might also be able to charge phones in there.

The composting toilet is a little way from the van, so make sure you have an umbrella - the shower is a brilliant experience, it’s gas powered and in the open air with a private wall around it. A little bit bracing in late September, but I really liked it.
