Liked EVERYTHING!
The staff were incredibly friendly from all departments. Welcoming, facilities, breakfast van, shop.
The location - PERFECT! A 5 minute stroll to Pooley and 10 minute to the waters edge
The facilities - clean!!! The welfare in particular were really good
The park and grassed areas for playing - epic
The camping pod - lush! A very simple and fun way to camp, private decking area which was nice and secure for the dog
They had vending machines - dog shower - free ice block freezing - giant chess!
For hikers - super close to a number of amazing hikes, in fact Askham was right behind you by about 1.5 miles.
A brilliant site for families

A really nice site, very clean…
Camping pod
Liked A really nice site, very clean and tidy.
We were here a little early for the start of the season and the child's playground was still being built, the shop wasn't open and the games room was closed.
However, it must be said the toilets are the best I have ever seen on a campsite.
The pods are clean and as described.
A special shout for John who works there, we had car problems and he bent over backwards to help, an absolute credit to the site.
One watch out, the fire pits aren't readily available at the pods, a sign was up saying £65 deposit and £25 rental... might be worth checking out amazon before you go.

Liked Clean site friendly staff great takeaway food fabulous shower facilities
Disliked Unfriendly cleaner in showers, I asked if there was a plug, where I could plug in my straighteners .
The woman was very unfriendly and just replied “No” without smiling or any interest.
I’ve stayed on this site many times.. I was disappointed as every one else was wonderful

Liked Hidden Gem Overlooking the Lake
Hillcroft Holiday Park is an absolute delight, nestled in a beautiful setting with stunning views overlooking the lake. From the moment you arrive at the welcoming entrance, complete with a well-stocked shop and helpful reception, you get a real sense of care and quality.
The park is thoughtfully designed with families in mind—there’s a well-equipped children’s playground, a top-notch arcade and games room, and a breakfast cabin that’s conveniently serviced throughout the week.
Accommodation options range from luxurious holiday homes to stylish glamping pods, offering something for everyone. The washroom and toilet facilities are truly exceptional—easily on par with those in a 5-star hotel anywhere in the world.
Every member of staff we encountered was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience feel warm and welcoming. We’ll definitely be returning—highly recommended!

Best camping experience for a family of 5
Camping pod
Liked This is by far the best camping experience we have ever had. The site is well maintained, has impressive bathroom facilities, and a games room which is great for teenagers. We booked a camping pod which was clean and spacious enough for a family of 5 to fit sleeping bags and luggage. The heaters were great for colder mornings. We also enjoyed our breakfast from the camp kitchen on the morning of our departure. Good value for money. Beautiful views of the lake from our pod as well. Wished we could stay longer. We will be back again! Thank you for a great stay!
Disliked Nothing! It was perfect! The only qualm was the wifi access which is pay as you go. £5 for 10 megabytes.

Note that Pitchup's site description does not make it clear that the site's wifi is Pay-as-you-go. Hillcroft's own site description does make this clear. Used mobile monthly allowance as 4G reception was fine.
