Campsite

  • Pop-up wild campsite in the scenic Eden Valley
  • A mile to Kirkby Stephen; 15 minutes' drive to Appleby-in-Westmorland
  • Well-behaved dogs welcome; firepit for every pitch
Hear that sound? It's the quiet murmur of the river Eden as it flows a few yards from your pitch at Eden Escapes, a wild-style farm site deep in the Cumbrian countryside. This quiet open field is easily accessible from the road, is surrounded by rolling grassland and has sheep and cows for neighbours. It's a short amble away from the Eden river, where you can stop to swim, paddle and relax before heading into the historic market town of Kirkby Stephen a mile to the south. The pretty village of Winton is a similar distance away via local footpaths too and is home to a friendly local pub and playground. The views here are truly spectacular, with sweeping vistas over Wild Boar Fell and, further to the north, the peaks of the Pennines. Eden Escapes is within reach of both, with day trips to the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District national parks also easily doable. In terms of facilities, this is a simple spot with portable toilets and running water. The farm is a pretty laidback place to be – well-behaved dogs are welcome to join you here, barbecues are permitted and campfires are allowed in the designated areas.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked We've been coming each year since the site opened. We always make this our yearly go to campsite for the weekend. So simple yet so magical with some well needed peaceful family time. Great access to the village, walks & a perfect stream to catch some fish with the kiddies and a splash before spending the night by a fire. The owners are incredible people who come by to make sure you're ok, useful information if you need it and the porterloo's are always well stocked and cleaned. Added bonus is the box of garden toys/nets for you to use. They've added a sink since our last visit which made washing up so much easier!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Quiet area, short drive to garage if needed any supplies.
Campsite was very clean and the owner came down after a while of us settling to make sure everything was ok.
River very close by with a stream to walk along with children.
Supplied fire pits which was an added bonus! :-)
Will definitely be returning.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Really nice site, quiet and well marked out for pitches. Loved that there was already a fire pit allocated to each pitch. Also great that cars had to stay separate so it was safe for kids to play. Portaloo was very clean. Flat pitches so no issues with rocks around the tent etc. Owner was really helpful at keeping me updated on the weather before we arrived as there was a storm risk the morning of travel. Will definitely be back.
