General

  • Peaceful setting overlooking the Cheshire Plain, close to Whitchurch
  • On National Cycle Route 47, and near Sandstone Trail walkers’ path
  • Within easy reach of pubs with gin nights and authentic curries

Looking for a peaceful spot where you don’t have to sacrifice the luxury of nearby pubs and restaurants? Head to Cheshire site Marbury Camp and Lodge, where you can look out over the Cheshire Plain by day and devour pub grub by night – the team on site can point you towards gin evenings and excellent curries… a winning combo after a day of exploring.

Speaking of exploring, there are enough walks and bike routes around to ensure you get your fill of countryside. The site is right on a national cycle route so make sure you pack your bike helmet – the site owners can help with bike hire and a map of the local cycle routes too. If walking is more your thing you can link up with the Sandstone Trail for 34 miles of unbroken, and often elevated, walking. The outdoor adventures don’t stop there, as this place is a great base for golfing, shooting and fishing as well, with all found within around four miles of the site.

Worn out just by reading the activities dotted around? There’s also plenty to do if you’re after a more chilled day. The nearby local market towns of Whitchurch (three miles away) and Nantwich (eight miles) have various market days and plenty of shopping, eating and drinking options. Supplies can also be sourced closer to home in the village of Wrenbury, a mile away.

Site amenities include a shower block and chemical disposal, and there's also the option to hire firepits (subject to availability).

Just driving home and stuck in traffic so an opportunity to review. On arrival we were so impressed with the site. Very, very clean and the pitches are fantastic. Good size, well manicured grass area and gravel pitch. Views from the site very lovely. Lots of children and seemed very family friendly. It was! We made friends with a couple of other families and our children played lovely together all week.

    Showers/Toilets - super clean
Site Super clean - Owner made a point of spraying disinfectant around water points throughout the day.

    Very dog friendly site

Location is good however car needed to travel out to different villages and towns. We visited Nantwich, Whitchurch (try the pie shop - wow), Shrewsbury (45 mins but well worth it, beautiful town).

We enjoyed our stay so much we added an extra night. We would have liked to extended longer but had commitments to get home to.

If visiting south Cheshire again we will definitely book this site.

Thanks for a lovely week :)

None really, one night we were a little noisy as we had made friends with two families and was asked to quieten down. This was around 10.20pm. It does however say on site that no noise after 10pm. Wouldn’t put us off but if you want to be noisy until 12 or 1 in the morning perhaps not for you.

The medieval Beeston Castle (20 minutes) comes with spectacular views and a 40-acre woodland park to amble about in.

Several of the surrounding towns have a lot to offer here. As well as Whitchurch there's also Nantwich (15 minutes), known for its listed buildings and annual cheese show (yum). Crewe is also a short drive away (about half an hour) if you still haven’t got your fill of eating, drinking, shopping and sightseeing.
