Marbury Camp and Lodge: Fully-serviced grass pitch

General

  • Peaceful setting overlooking the Cheshire Plain, close to Whitchurch
  • On National Cycle Route 47, and near Sandstone Trail walkers’ path
  • Within easy reach of pubs with gin nights and authentic curries

Looking for a peaceful spot where you don’t have to sacrifice the luxury of nearby pubs and restaurants? Head to Cheshire site Marbury Camp and Lodge, where you can look out over the Cheshire Plain by day and devour pub grub by night – the team on site can point you towards gin evenings and excellent curries… a winning combo after a day of exploring.

Speaking of exploring, there are enough walks and bike routes around to ensure you get your fill of countryside. The site is right on a national cycle route so make sure you pack your bike helmet – the site owners can help with bike hire and a map of the local cycle routes too. If walking is more your thing you can link up with the Sandstone Trail for 34 miles of unbroken, and often elevated, walking. The outdoor adventures don’t stop there, as this place is a great base for golfing, shooting and fishing as well, with all found within around four miles of the site.

Worn out just by reading the activities dotted around? There’s also plenty to do if you’re after a more chilled day. The nearby local market towns of Whitchurch (three miles away) and Nantwich (eight miles) have various market days and plenty of shopping, eating and drinking options. Supplies can also be sourced closer to home in the village of Wrenbury, a mile away.

Site amenities include a shower block and chemical disposal, and there's also the option to hire firepits (subject to availability).

when I booked got told get the one with electric but never told what plug it was so I went all night with out electric cas I want told shud pasifcly say what time of plug it is we ain’t all a brain box

From the manager...

Hi there Lee,

Thanks for the review. In response:

1. We're afraid we don't understand what you're saying. It seems that you may be saying you didn't have a proper camping lead and only had a 240v standard 3 pin plug (which has happened before)? If so, the camping plug (also called a commando plug) is standard across the whole industry. To send you a reminder to bring a standard camping lead (assuming you booked electric) would be the same as reminding you to bring your tent.

2. You mentioned in a message to us after your stay that you tried to speak to someone. You stayed only Tuesday night and we live on site/were on site working on the loo block all day but didn't hear from you. Our phoneline is also on 24 hours a day. We do have spare leads and can help those new to camping (and often do). You also mentioned in your message that your phone died, presumably because you couldn't charge it. We assume you did use the loo block and therefore did see the phone charging points inside which you could have used even if you didn't bring a camping lead.

Hope you have a better camping experience next time.

Cheers,

David, Emma and Pants

Absolutely delighted with Marbury Camp and Lodge. The accommodation was lovely and clean. Information was provided before we arrived to ensure we had a good stay. Communication was excellent from the the owners and they were very helpful when looking for some advice for somewhere to eat and visit. The site was well maintained and cleaned and we had regular weather up dates on the notice board and demonstrated a great humour as we had rain most of the time. We would definitely go again and recommend.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for the review.

Yes, it has been a very wet October. As you know, we are a tiny site and only have 7 tourer pitches at present, 5 of which are hardstandings. We will add a few more in due course as we are open all year.

Cheers,

David, Emma and Pants
