  • Peaceful adult-only site on a small working farm a mile from Gawsworth
  • Jodrell Bank and Peak District walks within 15 minutes' drive
  • Communal firepit on site; easy access from the A536
High Lane Farm is a small working farm in a peaceful Cheshire spot about a mile from the village of Gawsworth. The village has a pub and a fishery, and it’s also home to Gawsworth Hall, a Tudor manor house that’s open for weekend visits and holds events such as live music and outdoor theatre shows. There’s plenty of space to relax at this adults-only site, and it’s often treated to gorgeous sunrises and sunsets as well as having some lovely scenery to admire at any time of day. There are a couple of dogs on site already, so guests are welcome to bring a dog along – there are several places nearby to take them out for a walk. There’s a rural atmosphere on site but it’s not a tricky location to get to – quite the opposite in fact, as it’s easily accessed from the A536. That also means that it’ll be straightforward to get out and about, perhaps planning a visit to Jodrell Bank or hikes in the southern part of the Peak District National Park. Back on site, facilities include a communal firepit, showers and toilets, and you’re allowed to bring along a barbecue for some alfresco cooking if you don’t fancy the trip to the pub.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: The facilities were great, and the owners were lovely. They offered for us to check out later, and even said if we got cold to let them know and they would bring us blankets. Shower is the best I’ve ever had on a campsite with lovely hot water, I would definitely book here again

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: What's not to like? It's on a farm, can choose where you want to pitch and they have a little honesty shop selling food, drinks and even some homemade jams, gin and vodka. Me and my friend used this site as a base over a weekend, we're adventure bike riders and wanted to venture into the Peaks to see what lanes and tracks we could find. Unfortunately on the way to the site my rear tyre got a puncture, manage to get to the site but there I was stuck. Steve, was very happy to help, he lent me tools, and even borrowed me a car so I could take my wheel off and find a workshop that could repair it for. For that alone they deserve 5 stars. Lovely site, lovely hosts and I left feeling like I was a part of the family. There's also a pub up the road, within walking distance, foods amazing, serve real ales and a lovely atmosphere.

Tower view 1 bedroom shepherd's hut (hot tub)

Liked: Along with all the other excellent reviews, faultless, perfect, excellent, peaceful, relaxing, scenic, friendly, We hired the Shepard's hut for a weekend break. Although the website pictures are very good they really don't do the accommodation justice. We were greeted by Liz who is super warm and friendly, nothing is to much trouble. Her home made products have got to be bought / tried, they're gorgeous The hot tub water is heated by a wood burning stove which had been pre-lit for us arriving, again a fantastic touch. Being out in the country with fantastic views, cows in the adjoining field and the smell of a wood burning stove you could be a million miles from anywhere Fortunately we were blessed with beautiful weather and warm evenings, so much so we sat out in the hot tub enjoying the night sky, stars and moon till nearly midnight, relaxed is an understatement. Highly recommended, if you like peace, quiet, scenery, relaxation, this is the place for you Will definitely be going back soon

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked: The owners are so lovely and couldn’t do enough for us. We were staying for a wedding nearby and looked after our bikes in their barn and just generally made sure we had a stress free stay and were as comfortable as possible - thank you!!! The site itself is also wonderful based on a working farm - the shower and toilets are really clean and there’s some really lovely touches with the kitchen and homemade jam, chutney and gin! Glad I didn’t find that before the wedding 😂 thank you so so so much we can’t wait to be back (hangover free)!

Disliked: Nothing!
