What customers say

Offers a unique "nearly wild" camping experience. Guests rave about peaceful vibes, secluded spots, and knowledgeable staff passionate about conservation. Toilets are praised for cleanliness. While many love the natural immersion, some note the lack of showers and gear hauling. Recommended for an authentic woodland escape.

Small clearings primitive forest floor tent campsite (woodland)

Liked Had a brilliant experience here. The chap doing the induction was friendly and very helpful. Given the dryness of the woodland it's good that they're quite strict about campfires while still allowing them. I was in a quiet corner of the site, although not that far from other campers, I felt like I had that little corner to myself with everyone out of sight and ear shot. Listening to the owls hooting while I toasted marshmallows over the campfire in the evening was magical. The facilities are clean and of a good standard. It's such a shame they don't have showers so I could stay longer, but this is made very clear before booking. As a motorcyclist it's reassuring to know the carpark is behind a locked gate and not very visible from the road. There's some nice pubs within a short walk (although quite steep hills involved), the Golden Fleece was very nice and great value for money.

Liked We really enjoyed our time at Woodsworth Exploring. Everything was very clean, even the car park. It felt like real camping and it was such a nice experience to share with my girlfriend she really liked it too. A lovely place to spend time together outdoors!

Large clearings primitive forest floor tent campsite (woodland)

Liked Woodland pitch was unusual for us. Enjoyed the secluded glade we were in.
Staff are really friendly and helpful.

Disliked No hot water.
Having to carry equipment from the car park.
To be fair, these points are made very clear on the website.
Also the email I received after booking said that gas canisters over 2.5kg are not allowed (and we have a standard larger one). I called the site and they did allow us to bring ours. I appreciate the need to restrict fuel in the woods but this needs to be made clearer before booking.

Small clearings primitive forest floor tent campsite (woodland)

Liked Everything, loved the place, staff and owners are lovely, a very well set up and thought out place.

Disliked Only slight issue for us, as we like it quite and remote, was it got a bit noisy on our last night from the neighbouring pitch, can't always be helped though.

Large clearings primitive forest floor tent campsite (woodland)

Liked Fantastic site with a great ethos of preserving the woodland at it’s heart.

The pitches are individual forest clearings so you have some privacy and a choice of shade or sunlight which over the last few days has been amazing to stay shaded outdoors.

Duncan and Emma are wonderful hosts and are there when needed but leave you in peace otherwise.

Having a lovely campfire in your own grove of trees is as great as it sounds!

Disliked The hill, we didn’t listen to the advice when booking and took everything apart from the kitchen sink.

Entirely our fault and only mentioned so people do read the website and listen to it!

Next time we shall go more lightly equipped and stick to the wheelbarrows, they just work better.

Large clearings primitive forest floor tent campsite (woodland)

Liked The location (the local scenery is like something from a postcard and one of the local pubs does a thing called a Saxon pie which is a taste sensation)
How clean the toilet block was which must take alot of work given that the site is in the woods
The size of the pitch (we had 3, 3 man tents and a central admin area covered by a tarp on our pitch with room to spare)
The freedom you're given to enjoy yourself (clearly you can't be disruptive or disrespectful to anyone but as long as you're not harming anyone or damaging the wildlife the staff will let you get on with it without breathing down your neck)

Local attractions

Steam train rides along the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway (20 minutes’ walk) to start the day? A morning of historical sites, like the National Trust’s East Riddlesden Hall (15 minutes’ drive), the Vintage Carriages Trust Museum of Rail Travel (five minutes) or Haworth for the Brontë Parsonage Museum (five minutes)? There are many ways to get your holiday here off to a flying start, including a whizz off down part of the Tour de Yorkshire cycle route called Goose Eye (five minutes), a riverside stroll at the handsome Hardcastle Crags (25 minutes) or a walk where the writer Charlotte Bronte supposedly once wandered, towards the Bronte Waterfall (10 minutes). With an art-packed former mill at Salts Mill (20 minutes) for those with an artistic streak and Skipton (half an hour), a market town on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, for the foodies and shopping fans, there’s a lot to fill your day with… and for the kids in the group, Hesketh Farm Park (half an hour) is likely to be a popular choice due to its animals, tractor rides and go karts.
