Campsite
New field for 2025

  • Wild-style camping on a peaceful working farm opposite Lindisfarne
  • A 10-minute drive from Bamburgh and 15 minutes from Seahouses
  • Well located for Ross beach; good stopover from the A1 two miles away
Elwick Campsite is set in a peaceful location on the spectacular Northumberland coast, an area of outstanding natural beauty in the rural north east of England. This site is excellently located for trips to the holy island of Lindisfarne (a national nature reserve), visiting the castles that line the coast up to the Scottish border or exploring the many secluded beaches in the local area. These pitches have uninterrupted views over open countryside and over to Lindisfarne. This laidback spot has a no-frills approach but does have some well-maintained basic facilities, with running water, portable toilets and a chemical waste disposal tank made available to guests. Well-behaved dogs are welcome at Elwick Campsite (limited to two per pitch), but as there is livestock and wildlife all around, it is essential that they are kept on a lead at all times. The farm is in an easily accessible location, about two miles from the A1 and the nearest village of Belford (for a couple of pubs, a café, a small supermarket or a fish and chip shop). The nearest beach is in Ross, roughly five minutes away by car, followed by a lovely mile-long walk along a footpath.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked We loved the wide open space with fantastic views, level and spacious pitch, very clean portaloos and cleanliness of the site. No showers but this was made clear before booking so wasn’t a surprise. Loads of space for kids to play. It’s dog friendly with plenty of space for exercising them too. A wonderful, basic site. We hope to return.

Disliked Disliked nothing, it was great.

Liked Everything! It’s such a lovely place and Susan is a national gem. She’s one of the hardest working campsite owners I’ve ever met yet still makes time to have a chat. Nice and spacious and some awesome views. We will definitely be back ❤️

Primitive grass and earth RV campsite

Liked Quiet, peaceful location with stunning views over farmland and Holy Island. Great base for exploring up and down the Northumberland coast. Huge spacious pitches. Easy access from A1 also the quiet coastal roads towards Bamburgh, Seahouses and Beadnell Bay. Lots of wildlife to observe, especially the hares. Susan and her family are very helpful hosts keen to ensure your stay is enjoyable. A huge thank you for jumping off our motor home with your tractor when the battery had decided to die on us. Nothing was too much trouble.

Disliked Nothing to dislike, this site is exactly what it says on the tin.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Great location, amazing scenery. We walked along a public footpath we found into belford(3.5miles), Bamborough (a bit further) along the main road another day. Caught a bus back to the main road about mile and half from campsite.
The campsite owners were great, we had a storm and the owner made sure we were positioned in a safe place. She checked in several times, made the toilets safe during the storm etc. The camping field was immaculate. The layout was easy to follow and the toilets were the cleanest. Amazing views of Holy island, we even saw a deer, several hares and rabbits and game birds whilst we were there.

Primitive grass and earth RV campsite

Liked Elwick Campsite was wonderful. When we stayed it was full but it didn’t feel it as the pitches are so lovely and spacious. The porter loos were immaculately kept.

There was a storm due and Susan came round the afternoon before to advise us on moving to a more sheltered spot which was so kind.

I couldn’t recommend enough and we all definitely be staying again.

Disliked No dislikes.

Primitive grass and earth RV campsite

Liked Simple, beautiful and no frills site in a stunning location, so peaceful and the biggest pitches I have camped on.
Porta-loos were also very clean.
Susan also very helpful on the phone and messaged before arrival which was a nice touch.

Disliked Due to its location got very windy during the night had to take canopy down (not the camp sites fault) just a heads up.

No access to the beach from campsite, had to walk about 30 mins to Ross Sands (worth the walk though)
