What customers say
A peaceful, well-kept spot in a lovely rural setting. Praised for being close to Castle Howard and lake walks. Guests love the clean, modern restrooms, friendly staff, and spacious sites. Mobile signal can be spotty, and there are few amenities on-site, but the quiet and scenery make for a relaxing getaway.

Unique location allowing for a great Castle Howard experience.

Liked Lovely woodland site with some ancient trees. Unique location being so close to Castle Howard. We walked to the courtyard cafe it took about 20 -30 minutes on a path that was set back from the road. All amenities that you would expect on site, friendly staff and a really cute little shop. Had a lovely autumnal break would recommend

Liked Spacious pitches. Gorgeous views including beautiful lake. Great sunsets. Friendly staff. Walking distance of Castle Howard with half price entry.
Disliked Nothing really. If I am being picky, grass could have done with a cut. Not a criticism of site but for future guests, mobile data signal patchy/poor.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We are pleased you had a great stay and enjoyed our location. You are correct that we do not have wifi, which we do state on our website and do not show as a facility on Pitch Up. Some guests enjoy the disconnect from technology but we understand it isn't a positive for everyone. Castle Howard courtyard does have free wi-fi and is only just over a mile away for guests who do want to check in. We're pleased that you enjoyed the quiet and liked our facilities and hope you will return.
Definitely be back

From the manager: Hello and thanks for your feedback. Our location is definitely a highlight for many visitors and it's always good to read it is appreciated by our guests. Our little shop, added just, over a year ago has proved popular as it stocks a few staples, a few luxuries and a few essential items such as toiletries which may have been forgotten; it is a 'convenience' store but there are supermarkets if needed just 5 miles away in Malton.

From the manager: Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. Our FAQ's do state that there is no wi-fi at Lakeside and whilst it is a problem for some, for others it is a welcome break from the technological reliance of everyday life but we understand this doesn't suit everyone. There is free wi-fi at Castle Howard itself.
This is a lovely park and I would love to return in the future.
