  • Peaceful and family-run site next to the Forest of Bowland
  • In a walkers' paradise near the Yorkshire Three Peaks
  • A variety of pre-ordered homemade pizzas on Saturday evenings
These routes are made for walking… Orcaber Caravan and Camping Site is in the Three Peaks area of the Yorkshire Dales National Park for hikes up Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent, and right next to the wanders and strides of the Forest of Bowland, a National Landscape. Many more walks and footpaths start directly from the site; get a map from the site information office to show you on your way. Based at the village of Austwick and a 10-minute drive from the market town of Settle, the site is a peaceful and family-run site set among outstanding scenery, with horses and sheep grazing in the neighbouring fields. Dogs are welcome (on leads on site at all times, please), and a big field with a stream is allocated as a dog walk area on site. Pitches at Orcaber Caravan and Camping Site are large, flat and well-drained. Facilities include separate ladies' and gents' showers with plenty of hot water; toilets; a freezer for ice packs, and an info room with details of local attractions, events and those many local walks. A variety of homemade pizzas are available on Saturday evenings from 5pm to 8.30pm from April to early September; these can be pre-ordered from seven days before.

What customers say

This is a well-maintained and exceptionally clean campsite with spacious, level pitches. Guests consistently praise the modern and immaculate toilet and shower facilities, many highlighting the hot water and good water pressure. Staff are frequently described as friendly and helpful. The site is ideally located for walks and exploring the surrounding countryside, with a dedicated dog exercise area. On-site food options, particularly pizza and bacon sandwiches, are popular. While most guests have no dislikes, some mention occasional noise from other campers and a desire for more on-site activities for children.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked The site was spotlessly clean well ran and in a great location

Disliked A bit too noisy for me,the site was very busy with the kids off school and as kids do the play ball games which again is perfectly ok, there was a 11pm noise curfew which was adhered too but there wasn’t any boundaries it was like the m25 with ppl just crossing through I was half expecting somebody coming in the hab door and leaving through the drivers door.

Having said that I did pitch up on a non electric grass pitch which was pretty level.

Next time I’d probably book a gravel pitch during the week when the kids are at school.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Totally friendly staff, and they really give you the feel of freedom you wanting a camp site.

Disliked That you have to pay for a shower and that if you had a guest for a day it's an extra £2. I don't get the extra charge as all they have to offer a guest is a free toilet.

Liked We stayed in tent pitch with no electric hookup (which is available) and we couldn’t have felt more welcome or at ease. Red hot, clean, modern showers for 50p for 10 minutes what more can you ask for! I’ll say what more, free fire pits delivered to your tent AND FREE WIFI covering the entire site! You will struggle to beat this site 10/10 will be staying again ASAP

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Excellent site with very clean showers and kept imaculate. There is a shop on site which is well stocked and also a coffee machine if you need your morning fix but can't wait for the kettle to boil, fire pits are avalible on a night which they bring round the pitches, it's also perfect for visiting all tourist sites such as ingleton falls, vibblehead viadduct ect. This has been our first camping experiance and this place will be very difficult to beat.

Powered grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Lovely spacious site
Clean and modern facilities
Friendly and helpful staff!
Easy to find
Gorgeous location - lots of places to explore close by and Settle close for supermarket if needed.
Somehow manages to avoid the rain! It’s like it’s in its own little bubble. We sat and watched a huge thunderstorm literally go around us without a drop of rain.

Disliked WiFi a little patchy at times but signal is good anyway.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Flat site, clean facilities, reasonably well stocked shop, friendly staff

Disliked The noise made by a couple of groups in the evenings was unacceptable on a site full of children. The constant swearing by one group in particular was wholly inappropriate.

Local attractions

The Three Peaks of Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent in close range are a topping location for walkers – if you're here to hike, see if you can complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to tackle the 24 miles around all three in one day. Orcaber Caravan Camping Site is also near the famed Ingleton Waterfalls Trail for woodland-based walks among spectacular northern scenery, and within easy driving distance of the waterfalls, stalactites and tours of the spectacular White Scar Caves, the longest show cave in the UK. Also recommended by the Orcaber team are the Settle to Carlisle railway line, through 73 miles of spectacular countryside through the Yorkshire Dales and the North Pennines, and passing splendid Ribblehead viaduct. The limestone formation of Malham Cove, a famed Yorkshire Dales beauty spot, is also a popular local spot. Yet more walks, hikes and heaps more spectacular scenery are at the Lake District National Park, about an hour's drive away.
