General

  • Small, peaceful and family-run site next to the Forest of Bowland
  • In a walkers' paradise near the Yorkshire Three Peaks
  • Spectacular scenery with horses and sheep grazing close by

These routes are made for walking… Orcaber Caravan and Camping Site is in the Three Peaks area of the Yorkshire Dales National Park for hikes up Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent, and right next to the wanders and strides of the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Many more walks and footpaths start directly from the site; get a map from the site information office to show you on your way.

Based at the village of Austwick and five miles from the market town of Settle on the edge of the national park, Orcaber is a peaceful, small and family-run site, set among outstanding scenery with horses and sheep grazing in the neighbouring fields. Dogs are welcome (on leads on site at all times please) and a big field with stream is allocated as a dog walk area on site.

Pitches at Orcaber are large, flat and well drained. Facilities include separate ladies' and gents' showers with plenty of hot water; toilets; a freezer with coolbox ice packs, and an info room with details of local attractions, events – and those many local walks.

Please note

A charge of £0.50 (€0.56) applies for the use of shower.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

We came back today after a 2 night weekend stay. It was a great experience.
Neil was easy contactable as soon as we arrived. Found us a perfect pitch. Near the bathroom facilities. Its a spacious campsite with great views. Spotless bathroom and washing facilities. Neil and Gaynor go above and beyond their call of duty to make sure you are happy. Got a firepit, logs and kindle all for just 9 pounds. Curfew at 11 which seemed to be adhered to. I used the dog walking area opposite as a running track. (So not just good for dogs) it was around 600m and is circular like a track. We fed the horses in the dog area also some carrots. (Unsure if we were allowed) my highlight was the chickens. Gorgeous little things. They even became our mates and trusted us. Ha. We will definately be back with family too next time.

Friendly site with a weekend vibe - level pitches and clean facilities 09/01/2018

    1) Excellent showers: hot and strong, worth the 50p which didn't run out even with a long hair wash routine!
    2) The toilet/facilities block was always clean and there was never a queue (even when the site was full at the weekend).
    3) Level pitches which were also nice and large
    4) Helpful and friendly site manager/owner
    5) Good location for the 3 peaks

As an observation: the site was very quiet during the week, we had the place to ourselves, and much busier at the weekend with families and groups. So, there was a definite 'weekend' vibe with children playing and families chatting around their BBQs till the curfew time (10pm).

Also if you want an on-site shop (for milk/bread etc) then this might not be the site for you. The nearest was 1/2 mile away (village post office). This was not an issue for us but just mentioning it in case an on-site shop is a must for you!

The limestone formation of Malham Cove, a famed Yorkshire Dales beauty spot, is also a popular local spot.
