What customers say
This small, friendly, and peaceful campsite gets high marks for its welcoming owners and spacious sites. Guests enjoyed the farm animals, especially the goats and alpacas, and the clean, powerful showers. Its rural setting near Pickering and the Yorkshire Moors makes it an excellent base for exploring. Minor notes: signage upon arrival could be better, and some feedback mentioned bathroom tidiness.

Great location
Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked I liked the pitch sizes, the location and quietness of the campsite. I also loved the ducks roaming about.
I also enjoyed having a fire pit and chopped wood available.
The site owner was on hand 24/7
The site is idyllic and so close to Pickering, and all the amenities and attractions.
The toilets are close to the main field so it’s not a long treck. But as the electrics weren’t working you certainly need a torch.
Had the electric been working properly and had there been separate toilets I would
Recommend to a friend and possibly return. Because of those issues I’d be unlikely to return.
Disliked I wasn’t happy as the electrics kept going off in the toilets and shower blocks. Therefore no lights or hot water.
The owner didn’t get a qualified electrician out immediately and over the days we were staying there was a problem multiple times per day/night with the hot water and lights.
I also wasn’t sure on the honesty box system for the showers. 1- because lights and hot water were hit and miss. 2- this cost should ideally be covered in the fee for the pitch.
The shower and toilet were separate and in the same room. There were 4 shower/toilet cubicles, which were great in a way as there was plenty of room for clothes and towels etc. unfortunately in the morning one of the shower cubicles was being cleaned while 3 were taken with people showering and there was a queue of people were waiting for the toilet.
I allowed 2 children in to use the toilet before I could get my shower.
It would be fab if they could build just one stand alone toilet/sink that can be used without having to wait for someone to finish their shower.

FHU grass campsite
Liked Everything
excellent location with just tonnes to do whether it’s spend or a nice day out at minimal cost
Nice small site which is well kept and the lovely cleaner ensuring it is spotless every day for you.
With the site being smaller - toilets and shower facilities were extremely close making it very convenient.
There a 2 blocks. Each block has a shower/sink/toilet (making 4). Then a separate area for washing dishes and a communal fridge freezer for holding some of your food
6 electric hook ups with very generous sized pitches and each pitch having your own clean water tap in case you are using a caravan. One electric point has 3 ports - my 20m comfortably reached from my tent to the port at the furthest point.
5 minute drive to Pickering where there is a large Aldi and coop as well as fuel stations for any necessities.
You receive an email prior to arrival explaining what to expect when you arrive.
Don’t let nearby farm concern you - we had no issues with any smells etc. the animals and their paddocks are very clean and well maintained.
Disliked The only criticism we could make would be with the set up of the toilets showers
As the toilets and showers are in one area, if you catch at a busy time and everyone is using the showers - you could en caught out needing the loo and waiting a bit. Honestly - it turned out not to be an issue for us and the campsite was full
Ground is quite hard (soil not rocks) make sure to bring a mallet!
Some families being irresponsible with the animals/ younger children. It is clear the animals are used to human contact and well cared for. Some families would be wiser to better supervise their children when it came to feeding the animal with unsuitable food
