What customers say
This "nearly wild" campsite boasts stunning views of the Yorkshire Dales for your hikes. Enjoy clean, eco-friendly compost toilets and a hot shower. Guests loved the peaceful, spacious vibe, games, and honesty shop. Note the steep access road and boil drinking water. A second shower was being built in May 2026.

FAB location. Unfortunately toilets let it down personally for me.

Liked Location is fantastic, beautiful!
Disliked Composting toilets unfortunately. Having not experienced a toilet like this before I didn't know what to expect but unfortunately its not something I could handle. I didn't like the openess of the toilet waste and as expected this attracted plently of flies. Not for me unfortunately. Also no chemical disposal as site is eco friendly- so no where to empty own toilet waste.

Liked Beautiful site. Stunning views. Having one of their freshly made milkshakes after a long walk was a highlight. Compost toilets are well maintained and kept clean, as are the showers. We only stayed for 2 nights, wish we’d stayed for longer.

Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Really great location with fantastic views! Lovely hot shower and clean toilet. We made friends with the three sheep in the field next door, and there were cows and sheep in the fields, really sweet and funny. There’s a big tipi which we made use of to make our sandwiches when it rained. Lovely getaway and far from the maddening crowd.

Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Amazing views! Was busy enough for a night atmosphere but not too busy where you couldn’t get moved. Tipi for milkshake and ice cream was a massive bonus.

Great little site with amazing views.
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Location, the scenery was beautiful. Great big field with plenty space to chose from.
Disliked Nothing really. However just a note to mention that the showers were a little temperamental, either red hot or freezing cold so you had to time when to dip in and out. Not a complaint but maybe something the owners could look into.
