  • Family-run site for adults only, 15 minutes’ drive from Bridlington
  • Barmston beach five minutes’ drive; Hornsea 15 minutes
  • Two minutes’ walk from a bus stop with regular services to Bridlington
Overdue for a getaway just for the grownups? Make your way to the small adults-only East Yorkshire site Laurel Park, five minutes’ drive from Barmston beach and 15 minutes from Bridlington, popular for its shellfish, fish and chips, lively harbour and beaches. This is one of those sweet spots that’s well away from the noise of the seaside towns, but still near enough to visit them easily. It's in the small village of Lisett, just over 300 metres from the A165 (some road noise should be expected, depending on the direction of the wind). A bus stop is two minutes’ walk away with regular services to Bridlington. From there, it’s easy to reach Driffield and Beverley by bus or rail. There are no street lights in the village, so the stargazing at Laurel Park can often be spectacular. When you have a moment free, stroll over to the village’s Grade II-listed church (home to the oldest dated bell in England, from 1254) or the 1942 RAF station (once an airfield for the Halifax bombers) and squadron memorial to see a little of the local history. For meals out, there are plenty of pubs and restaurants in the local villages and towns, and for groceries there are shops in Beeford and Skipsea (both five minutes’ drive away) or Bridlington. Look out for the ice cream van that visits the site every Sunday evening too. Laurel Park is a small, friendly site run by the ever-helpful Lindsey and Pete. The facilities include a luxury shower block with a chemical toilet and a grey water disposal point, as well as a disabled toilet and shower with ramp access. There are also security features, including electric gates and CCTV cameras.

Spacious pitches and a quiet base for exploring the East Yorkshire coast. Occasional road noise noted, but most guests loved it.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Lindsey and Pete were absolutely lovely - great communication after booking on line with clear info of how to access the campsite. Both are friendly and welcoming and introduced themselves and their 2 delightful hens - a highlight was getting to give Mabel a cuddle!
The site is small and well planned with lots of space between pitches and a good balance between tents and camper vans and cabins.
The facilities are absolutely spotless - including lovely hot showers. The toilets are obviously cleaned several times per day.
Very calm vibe and quiet fellow campers respecting the camp site rules.

Disliked The site is quite close to the road so there is some traffic noise. Earplugs mitigated this during the night (hence 9 out of 10 - otherwise 10 out of 10).

Camping pod

Liked The pod was very well equipped, the pod was clean and the toilets/showers were spotless. The owners were really friendly and I've no doubt they'd have helped me if I needed something.

Disliked There was a bit of traffic noise from the road during busy times. It wouldn't stop me staying again though.

Camping pod

Liked Stayed in the pod, which was cosy, comfortable and really well equipped. It also had its own outside seating area, which was lovely to sit out on in the morning with a cup of coffee.

The campsite itself is a small, independent site and was wonderfully quiet and peaceful. It felt very safe (gate to enter is key coded), which was particularly reassuring as a solo traveller. The shower block and toilets were clean and modern and always clean, and the chickens wandering around the site were a lovely added touch!

It’s also in a great location for exploring the area. Bridlington are around a 20-minute drive away, while Flamborough Head is roughly 30 minutes away, making it a great base for exploring the Yorkshire coast.

A really peaceful little campsite with everything you need for a relaxing stay. I’d definitely recommend it, especially if you’re looking for somewhere safe and friendly.

Disliked At times there is some road noise but nothing off putting.

Camping pod

Liked This was a last minute booking a short break for my wife's Birthday in the Pod. We arrived to the site with excellent directions and instructions, a secure key code gate to enter the site and lock box for the key to the pod. Welcomed by Lindsey (one of the owners) such an amazing friendly lady , very sociable , she had put up a Birthday banner , and inside was a birthday card, bottle of fizz with glasses and a box of chocolates. Could this of got any better....
The pod is equipped with more than you would need to stay, Kettle, Toaster, Microwave, Fridge, Glass hot plate & all the pots, pans, utensils you needed to suit everyone's needs.
Smoke alarm, fire extinguisher , fire blanket, led ceiling lights, rechargeable night light , and above door outside a security sensor light for easy entry/exit in the dark. The outer decking area has 2 chairs and a table perfect for relaxing and enjoying the quiet with bird feeders on the sight and lots of flowers & hanging baskets. The bed was so easy to set up and once made is approx 7ft square so you can choose to sleep width or length ways.
Added touches included complimentary tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits enough for your arrival. This is an adults only site and although a main road is approx 400 metres away across a field it was very quiet, set back and no light pollution so millions of stars on a clear night.
All the caravan, camper van , tent pitches were level.
The facilities block was spotless, the best we've ever been to on a campsite, free hot showers, again complete with shower seats, complimentary hand washes & electric hand dryers. Also at the end of the facilities an extra disabled toilet/shower wet room which has ramp access. Pot washing station, a notice board with bus&tide times updated weekly and other info. 2 friendly chickens live on the site they were no trouble and don't peck. Lindsey & her Husband have spent 6 years developing the site before they opened May 2026 and have put in all the effort to make sure everyone is catered for no expense spared this place is a true gem and should be respected. Only 15 minutes drive 6 miles to Bridlington Harbour/Beach and supermarkets. We will be returning here in the near future .

Local attractions

As well as Bridlington and Barmston, there are several other beaches nearby, including quiet Fraisthorpe beach (10 minutes’ drive) and the busier Hornsea (15 minutes), with a museum and boating lake as well as the sandy beach. Rugged Thornwick Bay (25 minutes) and the classic seaside resort of Scarborough (45 minutes) may also catch your attention, or you could look for puffins at RSPB Bempton Cliffs or walk through coastal woodlands at Danes Dyke Nature Reserve (both 25 minutes). If you miss out there’s always the bird show (and other animals) at Bridlington Animal Park (five minutes)… Keen on poking around in stately homes? You’ll have a good list to try here – the site is close to Burton Agnes Hall (10 minutes), Sewerby Hall & Gardens (20 minutes), Sledmere House (half an hour) and Burton Constable Hall & Parkland (half an hour). There's more lovely heritage at the Streetlife Museum in Hull (45 minutes) as well.
