Spacious serviced pitches

General

  • Small site in the grounds of a Callow End traditional village pub
  • A 15-minute drive from the Malvern Hills and Worcester
  • Large beer garden with outdoor tables, play area and chickens

For those couples/travelling parties that frequently face disagreement over whose turn it is to be designated driver, there’s really only one sensible solution: bed down right there at the pub.

Dozing off at the bar might be considered a little unseemly, so The Old Bush’s owners Matt and Karen have come up with a better solution and set up pitches in the garden area behind their rural Worcestershire pub. Thus guests can partake of dinners accompanied by a few local ales/ciders before strolling home (to a peaceful corner with drinking water, showers and 24-hour toilets) in just a couple of minutes – how civilised.

In fact, the whole setup here is rather civilised: The Old Bush is a traditional country pub in the little village of Callow End, with food available at lunch and dinner times, plus a menu of mini meals for smaller guests. On warmer days the merriment spills out into the garden, where there’s a play area, an aviary and a little flock of chickens along with plenty of tables for open-air drinking, dining and admiring the views over the Malvern hills.

Of course, one can’t sit around in the pub all day (well, maybe not every day, anyway…), so it’s worth noting that this is also a handy location for walks, horse riding, games of golf, fishing and days out in Worcester and Malvern (both 15 minutes away by car). Handily, if you do ‘accidentally’ sup one too many at lunchtime there’s a bus stop in the village so you can still get out and about.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.

No cars/motorcycles at the site. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

If you intend to eat at the pub in autumn/winter, please book a table in advance.

We had the pitch next to a beautiful aviary of birds. We had a wonderful meal on site at The Old Bush. The steak pie and Blackcurrant cheesecake were to die for....Complements to the chef! There was a fantastic shop on site too with lots of tempting goodies on offer as well as fresh breakfast options. The Old Bush was a great place to stay.

Good pitch and fairly level. Lovely views. shop on site and of course the most important reason to book there is that its a pub, anyone booking a pitch at a pub site and not using the pub should be taken out and shot so we used the pub having lunch and tea there ( Tea is what posh people call dinner ) and very nice too. Matt is a good host as are all we met there. We were booked in for two nights but a phone call re ailing elderly mother meant we had to leave abruptly on the morning of the second day.

The Shop at the Top is a little jewel in the sites crown
Great little site and can't wait to return

    Disliked:

Not easy if you have mobility problems as the site is on quite a steep hill with a gravel access road, so not ideal for wheelchairs or travel mobility scooters.
A full size mobility scooter might cope better - we shall find out next visit.

Lovely quite village location. Walks direct from site, great for dog walking. Food in pub was excellent as was the welcome. Crème brulee was the best flavoured one I have ever tasted, it should not need additional flavours as it stand on its own merit, but this was really good. Staff were really friendly and trying hard to make everything work during this time with covid 19 and succeeding. The shower facilities are excellent and were cleaned between my husband and myself using it. The 'Shop at the top' café and deli was really useful for extra supplies and breakfast of sausage barm cakes were a real lovely lazy indulgence. Will certainly return. Thank you everybody.
