  • Family-run 25-acre site 10 minutes' walk from the village of Wolvey
  • Coventry, Leicester and Warwick Castle within a half-hour drive
  • Café with a garden; fishing (for an additional fee) at two large lakes
Love a lakeside location? You should be happy with your lot at 5 Ways Lakes, a lovely Warwickshire site with not one but two large lakes on its 25-acre property. Those bodies of water are fabulous for creating a soothing backdrop for your break, and for providing habitats for the various species of wildlife that call this place home… And they’re sure to be of particular interest to anglers of all ages too, as they’re well stocked with fish. When you're ready to spend the day fishing, grab a fishing day ticket from the site for an additional fee, making sure to bring along a current rod licence and adhere to the catch-and-release policy. At four acres, Kestrel is the larger of the two lakes, with three islands, 60 pegs and a variety of fish weighing up to 20lb. Mallard, meanwhile, is a three-acre specimen carp lake with two islands and home to common and mirror carp weighing over 25lb. Not into fishing? No problem – this family-run site is a chilled-out place where you can simply relax in quiet surroundings, perhaps picking up snacks and drinks from the café (best enjoyed out in the garden area on a sunny day…) It’s a place that welcomes all guests too, with dogs welcome and accessible facilities provided for visitors with restricted mobility. This is a proper rural location, with your nearest amenities (including two pubs) in the village of Wolvey, 10 minutes’ walk away along a public footpath. It’s surprisingly well connected though, with the M6, M69 and A5 all a short drive away.

What customers say

This roomy campground offers a quiet country getaway with friendly staff and neat, level sites, often hedged. The cafe's a hit; lakes are great for fishing. However, some noted less-than-clean restrooms (missing toilet paper/hooks). Camper noise and occasional events bothered a few. Management cited guest behavior affecting facilities and acknowledged potential for noise during busy times.

Dick shepherd's hut (four person)

Liked Friendly staff
Had a request for an extra duvet and they provided it.
Lakes bailiff’s a nice bloke.
The facilities were clean and well kept.
Quiet place.
Lakes have decent size carp in them.
Shop is selling baits for fishing and a few other things like crisps, drinks and ice cream.
Prices for the cafe are decent. You can have food and drinks there.

Disliked Not enough action on the bigger lake when float fishing. I was expecting more bites from small-medium fish to have some fun in between the carp catching.
I didn’t see anything related to wi-fi connectivity and to be honest we didn’t even ask. Too busy fishing…

Liked Spacious pitches with plenty of room for caravan, car, awning and anything else that's needed. Facilities such as shower blocks, toilets, waste disposal, reception etc all within a few minutes walk. Hook ups in good condition and no problems with dipping or spiking electric. Water point located near reception already fitted with hose and tap connector which was a bonus. Nice sized fishing lakes with evidence of improvements being made. Husband told me fishing was decent although he didnt catch much! Small onsite shop selling some tackle and bait although he had bought his with him. Location great, 15/20 minute walk into the nearby village with a couple of pubs and a 15 min drive to Nuneaton with a variety of shops.Would 100% return.

Disliked Small, minor things which didn't affect our stay in any way. 1) Road from main road to reception is paved but very rickety. 2) info given about elsan point, location of facilities etc was very limited. We had to ask around for where to dispose of grey water and where the CDP was.

Liked Spacious pitches, very quiet, no issues, good facilities and great hosts.

Disliked Very dark during the night so maybe some lighting leading from pitches area towards the bathroom shower facilities but that’s not a major issue.

Liked Nothing to like,

Disliked Didn't answer phone, bogged field, unlit. No signage.
Left shortly after arriving due to failure of owner to answer phone on 4 occasions, despite telling them we would be arriving at 8pm in the dark and them agreeing to be available at that time to welcome us.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Easy to find. Showers and toilets, wash-up area all clean. Peaceful setting. Relaxed but helpful host. Pitches in good order - grass cut, ground is level with no obvious ruts. Bring a torch for after dark as site is largely unlit - better for wildlife, the planet and those of us trying to sleep! (motion sensor lights in facilities). I brought my "stealth camper" but others had caravans with awnings or tents. I felt safe staying here as a female solo traveller.

Liked Peaceful surroundings, friendly staff, cafe with eat in or takeaway food was good, clean toilets and showers, good fishing and caught variety of fish in short space of time.

Disliked It would have been nice if the shop was better stocked of more camping food essentials and there was something on offer for younger children such as a play area.

Toilet roll ran out in toilets in the evening, had our own but some families might not.

Local attractions

Fancy starting with a stroll? There’s a good network of footpaths running from the village of Wolvey (10 minutes’ walk away) – and with two pubs in the village, you’ll be able to reward yourselves with a nice drink at the end. For more walks nearby, try Fosse Meadows Country Park (15 minutes’ drive), Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve (20 minutes) or Coombe Abbey Park (15 minutes), which has a deer park and a Go Ape adventure course. To take a look into the area’s past, head to Grant WW2 Museum (10 minutes) and Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre (25 minutes), or plan to spend a day exploring the many attractions of Warwick Castle (half an hour) – it’s got bird of prey displays, a Horrible Histories maze, archery sessions and a Zog-themed playground as well as the castle itself to visit. Your surroundings may be thoroughly rural, but city life isn’t far off – you might like to head into Coventry (20 minutes) to visit the twin cathedrals and the Coventry Music Museum or turn north to Leicester (half an hour) for the National Space Centre and King Richard III Visitor Centre.
