  • Family-run 25-acre site 10 minutes' walk from the village of Wolvey
  • Coventry, Leicester and Warwick Castle within a half-hour drive
  • Café with a garden; fishing (for an additional fee) at two large lakes
Love a lakeside location? You should be happy with your lot at 5 Ways Lakes, a lovely Warwickshire site with not one but two large lakes on its 25-acre property. Those bodies of water are fabulous for creating a soothing backdrop for your break, and for providing habitats for the various species of wildlife that call this place home… And they’re sure to be of particular interest to anglers of all ages too, as they’re well stocked with fish. When you're ready to spend the day fishing, grab a fishing day ticket from the site for an additional fee, making sure to bring along a current rod licence and adhere to the catch-and-release policy. At four acres, Kestrel is the larger of the two lakes, with three islands, 60 pegs and a variety of fish weighing up to 20lb. Mallard, meanwhile, is a three-acre specimen carp lake with two islands and home to common and mirror carp weighing over 25lb. Not into fishing? No problem – this family-run site is a chilled-out place where you can simply relax in quiet surroundings, perhaps picking up snacks and drinks from the café (best enjoyed out in the garden area on a sunny day…) It’s a place that welcomes all guests too, with dogs welcome and accessible facilities provided for visitors with restricted mobility. This is a proper rural location, with your nearest amenities (including two pubs) in the village of Wolvey, 10 minutes’ walk away along a public footpath. It’s surprisingly well connected though, with the M6, M69 and A5 all a short drive away.

What customers say

This roomy campsite's got a chill vibe, fishing lakes and legend staff. Top marks for big, private spots, a ripper cafe and tidy loos, but a couple of blokes reckon the shower setup and dunny clean could be better. Some whinges about event noise and loud neighbours, and they'd like clearer signs and better rubbish bins. Still, fair dinkum value for a cruisy getaway.

Unpowered grass site

Liked Lots of room. Location where we needed.

Disliked Toilets and showers were not clean.
Arrives at 6.30 (booking stayed between 12-7)
There was not a sole about to check us in. When one of the other guests managed to get hold of someone for me I was told they finished at 4.
Ground was uneven and water logged.

Liked Easy to get to from M1 moterway

Disliked Overall, the site is functional but has several areas that need improvement, particularly around facilities, waste management and noise control.

* Water: Only one tap available for filling an Aqua Roll.

* Access: There is a single entrance/exit, making it awkward when vehicles meet coming in or leaving.

* Toilets: Cleaning/checks appear insufficient. Although there are morning checks, some toilets were still quite rough and messy.

* Showers: Very small and only just acceptable in terms of cleanliness. The shower light is controlled by a timer and switches off during use.

* Waste: There are not enough commercial waste bins. Bins were already overflowing and waste could not be disposed of properly, despite the site not being at peak occupancy.

* Noise: Music and general noise continued until around 3:00 am, which is particularly inconsiderate for nearby campers and those staying in tents.

Liked Peaceful, easy to find pitch, setup, good facilities, toilet, shower etc electric hookup.

Disliked Only thing is, great cafe on site and very reasonable price, just the opening hours arnt great. 9-4. Do offer a delivery service to your pitch, which is great. I just think it should open earlier for breakfast, maybe about 7am. And open later for dinner, maybe till 8pm and maybe close for a few hours during the day. Maybe three 2 hour windows? 7-10am.12-2pm, and 6-8pm. Just a suggestion on otherwise a great site.

Unpowered grass site

Liked Small shop and cafe on site.
Lots of toilets and showers.
Friendly staff although the poor girl on reception was rushed off her feet.
Plenty of room on my pitch.

Disliked Site was untidy in areas, mostly untrimmed hedges around the smaller individual pitches.

Toilets and showers weren’t the cleanest.

I didn’t see a fire station. There was an assembly point but I didn’t see anywhere with equipment incase of fire.
There may have been one but it wasn’t pointed out to me.

I didn’t take into account same sex or larger group bookings and the fact they could be a bit noisy (totally my fault!)

Ball games were also allowed around the pitches which got a bit much.
No quiet time switch off so still quite noisy at midnight.

Liked Nice site …facilities adequate…nice walks around the fishing lakes for the dog …considering there was a large number of families onsite it was very quiet and peaceful during the day …supermarket a short drive away if needed

Disliked Could have done with more dishwashing facilities and pot wash left filthy after other people had used it ..toilet/showers did get a bit dirty later on in the day but a lot of this isn’t down to the site but due to other people’s respect for the facilities….and did end up with some noisy neighbours playing music till early hours so could maybe do with a curfew for music

Local attractions

Fancy starting with a stroll? There’s a good network of footpaths running from the village of Wolvey (10 minutes’ walk away) – and with two pubs in the village, you’ll be able to reward yourselves with a nice drink at the end. For more walks nearby, try Fosse Meadows Country Park (15 minutes’ drive), Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve (20 minutes) or Coombe Abbey Park (15 minutes), which has a deer park and a Go Ape adventure course. To take a look into the area’s past, head to Grant WW2 Museum (10 minutes) and Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre (25 minutes), or plan to spend a day exploring the many attractions of Warwick Castle (half an hour) – it’s got bird of prey displays, a Horrible Histories maze, archery sessions and a Zog-themed playground as well as the castle itself to visit. Your surroundings may be thoroughly rural, but city life isn’t far off – you might like to head into Coventry (20 minutes) to visit the twin cathedrals and the Coventry Music Museum or turn north to Leicester (half an hour) for the National Space Centre and King Richard III Visitor Centre.
