  • Family-run site with on-site fishing and a café
  • Steps from the Shropshire Union Canal
  • Adults-only and dog-friendly; canalside for dog walks
If you had thoughts on an ideal setting for a hol between England and Wales, Hadley Park might well be it. It's in the Shropshire countryside on the border with Wales, next to the Shropshire Union Canal, and a handsomely scenic walk from Whitchurch, Shropshire's oldest market town. Hadley Park is a family-owned and run site that's set up for adults only. It has a small pond where guests can fish – for a fee; a big sundeck overlooking the pond, and a fully licensed on-site café serving fresh local produce. You can also have your hair smartened up in the Hadley Park salon: just enquire when booking using the details in your booking confirmation email. Amenities include a launderette and a washing-up area; there's also a chemical disposal point, and a modern well-kept toilet and shower block with disabled facilities. The park is adults-only and welcomes well-behaved dogs. A service station with fast food and coffee outlet is 400 yards away.

What customers say

A well-kept, adult-only spot by the Llangollen Canal, great for walks into Whitchurch. Showers and restrooms are praised for cleanliness and warmth. Dog-friendly with exercise areas. The cafe and fishing lake are hits. Some noted A525 traffic noise, but most found it unobtrusive. Pitches are level, with hardstanding and grass options.

Joyce camping pod

Liked What a lovely park. I stayed in a pod. And wanted to just watch the world go by for a couple of days. Such a quiet park. Food in cafe looked nice. But didnt eat there.
Short drive to town. Pod was so atmospheric. Shower block clean and tidy.
Will definitely go back.
Don't like fishing. But was nice to see all the fish in the small lake.

Disliked Its not really a dislike that can be sorted. The main road can be noisy. But nothing anyone can do about it. I knew about it before I booked. So no issues.

Disliked Overflowing rubbish bins close to pitch, these attracted wasps which then invaded our caravan

Pool view primitive grass RV campsite

Liked Last minute booking as we were passing through the area. Nice clean site, modern toilets and showers. The breakfast at the cafe was amazing, couldn’t have asked for more.

Disliked Could only see one bin in the motorhome but and it was overflowing, so maybe a few more would help, only a suggestion and didn’t take anything away from the stay

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked A getaway with friends to this lovely site . A short walk to Whitchurch, which has an old-world charm. The site has incredibly clean facilities ,5 star loos and showers kept pristine by a lady staff member.
Very informal registration. A nice cafe at the entrance if you don't want to do camp cooking, A friendly family business.
Reintroduced to camping after some years. A good location to rekindle our interest.

Disliked What's not to like?

Just one...nearby road noise that is only noticeable at bed time. ,but then the fresh air and couple glasses of Vino soon induce sleep

Local attractions

Staying close to home from Hadley Park, the old Shropshire town of Whitchurch is less than a mile away, and the walks of the Sandstone Trail as well as the hacks of the Bishop Bennet Way are easily accessible via the Shropshire and Union Canal on site. Elsewhere, several famed Shropshire and Cheshire sights are within 20 miles of the park, like Chester Cathedral and the city's Roman ruins and amphitheatre; Chester Zoo and Chester Racecourse; the fab follies of Hawkestone Park, and the llamas, alpacas and 50 acres of greenery of Cholmondeley Castle Gardens. Nearby Shrewsbury is famed for its annual flower show and for its Darwin Trail commemorating the life and work of evolution dude Charles Darwin who was born in the town. More modernly, a good range of plays are held at the new Severn Theatre and several riverside pubs and restaurants are around at which to while the night away. The bars, cafés and independent shops of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Llangollen are within driving distance: other top town picks are a picnic in Riverside Park, a stroll along Victoria Promenade, and a steam straight ahead on the Llangollen Railway.
