If you had thoughts on an ideal setting for a hol between England and Wales, Hadley Park might well be it. It's in the Shropshire countryside on the border with Wales, next to the Shropshire Union Canal, and a handsomely scenic walk from Whitchurch, Shropshire's oldest market town. Hadley Park is a family-owned and run site that's set up for adults only. It has a small pond where guests can fish for a small fee per rod (maximum of two rods), a big sundeck overlooking the pond, and a fully licensed on-site café serving fresh local produce. You can also have your hair smartened up in the Hadley Park salon: just enquire when booking using the details in your booking confirmation email. Amenities include a launderette and a washing-up area; there's also a chemical disposal point, and a modern well-kept toilet and shower block with disabled facilities. The park is adults-only and welcomes well-behaved dogs. A service station with fast food and coffee outlet is 400 yards away.

Randolf camping pod (no pets)

Liked Peaceful and cosy stay. Everyone on the site were lovely and pleasant. Facilities very clean, and warm too. Would definitely return!

The Waterside shepherd's hut

Liked The hut was lovely. Very clean and tidy with all the essentials. Just take a cool bag and ice blocks if you’re using fresh milk.
The on-site toilets/showers were kept extremely clean and tidy and it was nice to have the music on in there.
Dawn the host was lovely and very welcoming and we had some amazing breakfasts in the onsite cafe. This place is amazing value for money and I would definitely recommend it.

Disliked Not really a dislike but just be prepared for very poor mobile coverage as the hut does not receive WiFi.

Disliked The woman in the next van Made us feel very un welcome ( i think she lives there most of the time so i would not return.) All because i went to the tap next to her van which no one was using told me i was not allowed to get water from there as they pay for that space and i wasnt allowed to walk past her van very petty and rude

From the manager: The lady next door was a tourist not a seasonal . Her first visit . There are taps dotted around the site for your use . Not on the pitches . She was not happy with you allowing your dogs to foul behind her caravan . Totally understandable. We need to respect other tourists . There is a huge grass space in front of your hut without the need to invade other people’s privacy and a let loose dog park to take your dogs at night .

Liked Really nice site and accommodation. The whole site was really clean, toilet block/showers and pot was area was one of the nicest I’ve been too over the years, love the music playing in them, great for when your washing the pots!

Disliked I was in grass non electric. More dogs than people i think. Constant non stop barking. Left after an hour and a half

From the manager: This is a shame that you disliked grass non electric . But I guess this is the pitch you booked £13 a night for solo travellers . We do have electric & hard standing options which are more expensive but we don’t do solo traveller’s supplement on these I’m afraid .

Staying close to home from Hadley Park, the old Shropshire town of Whitchurch is less than a mile away, and the walks of the Sandstone Trail as well as the hacks of the Bishop Bennet Way are easily accessible via the Shropshire and Union Canal on site. Elsewhere, several famed Shropshire and Cheshire sights are within 20 miles of the park, like Chester Cathedral and the city's Roman ruins and amphitheatre; Chester Zoo and Chester Racecourse; the fab follies of Hawkestone Park, and the llamas, alpacas and 50 acres of greenery of Cholmondeley Castle Gardens. Nearby Shrewsbury is famed for its annual flower show and for its Darwin Trail commemorating the life and work of evolution dude Charles Darwin who was born in the town. More modernly, a good range of plays are held at the new Severn Theatre and several riverside pubs and restaurants are around at which to while the night away.
