General
- Luxury glamping site on seven acres of private land and vineyard
- Half a mile's stroll from Uppingham; 10 mins' drive to Rutland Water
- Individually designed and fully equipped canopy tents; firepit outside
If you’re surmising that stays at Vineyard and Canvas revolve around settling into a swish tent overlooking fields full of grapes, well, you’d be absolutely right.
This luxurious glampsite, opened in 2019 and covering seven acres of private land, is set on the hills of high Rutland and has fab views. Each canopy bell tent sits in its own private space of 24 square metres, with hidden picnic areas and secluded hideaways all around.
Each accommodation is individually designed and comes with contemporary furnishings, a handmade kingsize oak bed, kitchen equipment and safety items including smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Step outside and you’ll spot a firepit, verandah, tables, chairs and a parasol too.
Travelling light? The site team can sort bedding and towels for glamping guests or you're welcome to bring all your own kit along (including a tent if you desire something a little more low-key).
And for off-base eats and explores? The historic town of Uppingham (half a mile away) has a food shop and takeaways, along with art shops, fashion boutiques, bistros and a Friday market. Wine bars, pubs and award-winning restaurants are within easy driving distance around Rutland.
Dogs are very welcome at the park but must be kept on a lead at all times due to the numerous rabbits and other wild animals on the grounds. The park asks that you please respect the land and its occupants.

Local attractions
Travelling on public transport? Great news: Oakham (10 minutes’ drive) has trains to and from London, Cambridge and Birmingham.
If you’re exploring by car, head over to Rockingham Castle (10 minutes), for a tour of the Norman building and a treat in the tearoom, or creep along to Bugtopia The Zoo (15 minutes) with the kids to interact with 75 different types of reptiles and invertebrates.
Try to spot a few creatures out in the wild as well with a bit of birdwatching at Rutland Water (20 minutes); this lake is also a go-to for fishing, watersports and pleasure cruises. It has a 25-mile walking and cycling track around the perimeter too if you’re up for a wander.
Already explored all of Uppingham but still fancy town times? Mosey over to Market Harborough (30 minutes) and idle in the independent shops or look to Leicester (40 minutes) for strolls around a 900-year-old cathedral. The nearby King Richard III Visitor Centre gives guests the lowdown on the royal’s life and you can head to Leicester Castle as well to see the place where he lived out his final days.

Hi Liam.
Thank you so much for your kind words, what a wonderful justification for our hard work during the sunny jubilee bank holiday..
4 days as new visitors to us and Rutland allowed you and your family to relax and enjoy our site along with Uppingham and Rutland water.
Lovely to meet your parents Sean and Louise, really enjoyed the chats with them, please say hi to them...
Hope you all do visit us again, but understand it's a long journey from Liverpool and London.
Thanks for taking care of the canopy and we have to say, that you all were the most ideal and polite guests, we couldn't ask for better.
Tony & Rosarin..
