When it comes to food, there's a handy catering barn (which, with advance notice, can sort meals for guests with special dietary requirements), plus a small shop that stocks plenty of sweet treats and souvenirs. If you'd rather step out for dinner, make your way into Walesby (a mile away), where two popular establishments are all set to serve up pub-cooked food. While there may not be a playground on site, there are 250 acres of space for ball games and adventures.

This sprawling, tidy woodland campground offers exceptionally large sites, perfect for families and groups wanting space and nature. Guests rave about the many activities, helpful staff, and great value. However, some found the restrooms dated, far away, and not always clean. Limited toddler activities and occasional noise were noted.

Disliked Maybe the wild camping toilets to have some lighting? Solar powered perhaps. But that is just being picky!

Liked Plenty of space for two tents. Great showers( hot) and toilet amenities.
Pub/restaurant with two pool tables.
Plenty of activities to do, (at extra cost).
Outdoor swimming pool ( open in summer).
Lots of fields to play football or other games.
Good walks around the site. All staff were amazing and helpful when needed.
Shop on site, only for certain things, not everything.
WiFi at the pub area. If your lucky, you can get it in the field and surrounding areas, depends on your phone.

Would definitely come back again as such a great site, so much space.

Liked Huge pitch, loads of space great site surprised that it was so empty. Activities were good, boys enjoyed them. Facilities basic but adequate & clean. Activities good value for money.

Disliked Nothing, could have hair dryers in shower block or at least a plug socket to plug one in but wasn't a major issue. Also EHU being 6 amp is a struggle but we knew that before we booked.

Stayed for 2 nights and granddaughter joined us for the 2nd night

Liked Area very good size and site clean. The staff were amazing nothing was too much trouble. Looking at booking again in May

Disliked The menu in the bar was limited but the food was good and served in a reasonable length of time. We were up on one of the top fields, which was very peaceful but too far away from the amenities

Liked Really friendly loved the workers and reception shop and bar area , really nice people

Disliked Washing up area wasn't great , the showers and toilets block felt a bit old skool but it is what it is

Recommend to friends Visit again

Liked Very good size pitch there was 10 off use on 2 pictchs and they put us next to each other 6 kids 4 adults. The staff was amazing all weekend especially the lady who was doing the Easter egg hunt and went out her way to get use dairy free chocolate for 1 off the kids big shout out to you. Kids love the activities on site but also the freedom to be kids like us old folk use to be with no tec.

Liked The tent pitches were spacious, the picturesque peaceful surroundings are perfect for time away. Staff are very friendly and helpful. It has a lovely little bar. Toilets and showers are clean.

Disliked The shower can be cold if you go later on.

Liked The touring pitches were easily accessible on a large flat field. The staff were very friendly and the activities were great.

Disliked Showers were dirty and the pitches had no privacy. It is not made clear in the information that the WiFi is only available in the bar, not on the pitches.

Liked Pitches were spacious and we had a good location close to the toilets
Loads of room for the kids to play and explore

Disliked Could have varied the activities slightly for day and afternoon seems a bit repetitive

Showers could do with a. Squidgy in the cubical as when walking with sliders etc not the best to have to use hands to clean it

Local attractions

With its tales of Robin Hood, ancient oaks, country houses and lush leafy landscape, Sherwood Forest has something to keep most sorts content. Clumber Park (15 minutes' drive) has long avenues of limes and open heath to stroll through, while over by the Major Oak (10 minutes) you can get acquainted with one of the area's stand-out trees before setting out on several waymarked hiking routes (maps available at the visitor centre next door). Similarly close to base is Go Ape Sherwood (10 minutes), where a medley of segways and zipwires nicely complement any on-site activities you've got up to during your stay. Kids not quite old enough for that kind of activity? Fear not, as families with younger members will find plenty of age-appropriate entertainment at Wheelgate Waterpark (15 minutes) or Sundown Adventureland (20 minutes). Spending time in town is also doable here, as Walesby Forest is just over half an hour from Lincoln's castle, cathedral and urban arboretum. Meanwhile, over in Newark (30 minutes), there's Civil War heritage, antiques shops and weekly markets in a handsome Georgian square, plus hovercraft tours if you fancy something a little different.
