  • Adults-only campsite in hilly countryside near Market Harborough
  • A 10-minute drive to Foxton Locks, and 20 to Lutterworth
  • Covered communal eating area; dark skies site and wildlife haven
Base yourself at Valley View Campsite for a peaceful, adults-only stay among Leicestershire hills and valleys near Market Harborough, or use the place as a base for day trips to the bright lights of Birmingham (an hour’s drive). Either way, those far-reaching rural views come as standard on all the spacious pitches. No-frills facilities cover spotlessly clean showers and loos. Barbecues are allowed or you can pick up takeaways in Fleckney (five minutes’ drive) and eat in The Barn, an undercover communal dining area for unwinding, meeting fellow guests and doing the washing up. If the weather is behaving and conditions are right, you may catch some colourful sunrises and sunsets, and as the area has a low level of light pollution, some serious stargazing is possible on clear nights. The site is also something of a wildlife haven, so keep your eyes peeled for sparrow hawks and buzzards, rabbits and deer. Dogs are welcome at Valley View, and there’s a separate area where you can take them for exercise.

What customers say

This adult-only site boasts amazing valley views and a peaceful vibe. Guests rave about the spotless facilities (hot showers included!) and the cozy communal barn with sofas and free hot drinks. Owner Helen's friendliness and helpfulness are a highlight. Pitches are usually good-sized and level. Minor mentions: showers can get busy, electricity costs extra. A top choice for a relaxing rural escape.

Power optional grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked This is an absolute gem of a campsite. I was met in the car park by Helen, she was very welcoming and friendly , showed me around the site, told me where to find everything, walked me to a couple of different pitches she thought suitable and let me choose one and then left me to get on with it.
Site itself is very well kept, plenty of space for everyone without being to close, spotless well maintained showers and toilets. Lovely little indoor common room with tables chairs, sofas, fridge freezer, pot washing, kettle and complimentary tea and coffee.
Quiet, relaxed, peaceful site with fantastic views and just a great relaxed atmosphere. I would definitely stay here again.

Disliked Nothing at all.

Power optional grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Believe the photos. It is as stunning as it looks. Indoor space was a welcome break and the facilities were excellent. The site owner greeted me, gave me a quick tour and pointed out a local walk which I hadn't noticed and really enjoyed. Felt safe as a solo female traveler. A lovely break in a lovely place.

Disliked Barely an issue but the sheep made for chatty neighbors. Recommend headphones if that might be an issue for you.

Liked The space was bigger than we would normally have expected.
The barn where the toilets and showers are housed was spotless. We particularly liked the cosy set-up in the barn also where Helen has set up a tea and coffee station which was much appreciated.

Power optional grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Everything. The views were stunning, the facilities were clean and well thought out with even a sofa seating area. The lady who runs the site even came to say cheerio as I was packing away. I have been to a dozen campsites over the past year as I make camping videos. This is the best one I’ve visited 10/10

Liked Lovely welcome and given the opportunity to pick our own pitch. Lots of different 'types' to choose from. Great facilities and a lovely walk along the valley to local pub. Super grub. All in all a super stay...but be prepared for a breeze as you will be at the highest point in the area.

Local attractions

Starting in the village of Mowsley, have a wander on foot around the Laughton Hills or do some exploring on horseback from the local riding stables (both five minutes’ drive). For a gentle stroll, follow the Grand Union Canal towpath out of the village – it’s an easy walk to Foxton Locks (10 minutes), where you can watch barges ascend a flight of 10 locks, hire a boat to chug along the canal yourself, or have a nose around Foxton Canal Museum (15 minutes). Exercise completed for the day? Foxton Locks Inn is the spot for a virtuous post-walk pint and a bite to eat. If you have the urge to spend some of your hard-earned cash, Market Harborough (15 minutes’ drive) is packed with antiques emporiums and unusual shops, or try Lutterworth (20 minutes) for its historic Thursday market and stick around for a tour of elegant 17th-century Stanford Hall (20 minutes, check opening dates before you visit).
