Powered grass campsite

Liked: Very clean, friendly staff, great location for fishing and fishing was included in the process of the stay.

Good, clean facilities such as bathrooms and washing up area. Fridge and freezer to use if you need to.

Disliked: When we arrived we were told to not park on the grass as it was so wet, which is understandable. So we had to park right next to the toilet block. As others began to arrive they all parked on the grass, unfortunately as we were right next to the toilet block we were woken at 7:30am on a Sunday morning by a group of ladies meeting up right next to us to go swimming in the lake, this also included a staff member. They do have loads of signs around informing everyone that between the hours of 10pm - 8:30am is quite time and to respect others. This did not happen! That was such a shame as it’s a lovely place to stay.

We would stay here again if we could stay as far away from the toilet block as possible as this is where everyone tends to park when are swimming early in the morning.

Liked: On arrival greeted by Site owner's daughter. Plenty time time taken to explain site operation, where everything was.
Staff friendly, polite & courteous.
Site was quiet but very wet when we arrived. We were offered choice of pitching on gravel path opposite toilets & wash up area to avoid getting stuck.
Open air wash up areas on two level with head cover, plenty of room & very hot water.
Fishing pond (you can also swim in) attracted wildlife, plenty of different birds. Woodpeckers echoing from lodge area across the road.
Site set back from main road traffic.

Disliked: Toilet & shower cubicle got very muddy when other users did not tidy up after themselves.
Toilets up a level on decking. Although wire meshing was attached to steps to assist grip when walking - steps were quite slippy as was handrail.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful views from our pitch across the lake and use of the swimming lake was an added bonus. We were there in the early season so was lovely and quiet too.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: This was a great site, great views and the staff were very friendly. It is close to Ledbury and lots of walks are available from the site.
The toilets were limited due to the time of year but this was fine and they were cleaned well and warm!
Really recommend this site.

Disliked: Wifi didn't appear on the list where we were pitched, but we had decent signal so all ok. I didn't go and ask about it either though as we had good enough signal.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: Very friendly site staff, tranquil location, superb night skies, well-maintained showers and loos.

Disliked: Staying in depths of winter, the drinking water standpipe froze. Chem toilet disposal is a bit basic (take gloves!) Grass pitches can get quite muddied and soft: bring boots and do try not to walk mud into the shower rooms - poor site staff were fighting a losing battle to fix problems caused by some rather unmindful campers on this front.

Local attractions

Nearby Ledbury is a lovely little market town famed for its cobbled streets and black and white timber-framed buildings: look out for and take a snap of the Market House in the town centre. The town is at almost equal distance from the cathedral towns or 'Three Counties' of Gloucester, Hereford and Worcester and a day should surely be had at each: Gloucester for its Harry Potter-scened cathedral and many museums; Hereford for the Old House, Hereford Cider Museum and Hereford Cathedral's Mappa Mundi; and Worcester for its library The Hive and the Three Choirs Festival (Worcester Cathedral by night is a spectacular sight too). The countryside surrounding Woodside Country Park is known for its Herefordshire sights like hopyards, cider orchards and Hereford cattle, while walkers and cyclists come to this part of the land to hike or bike the Malvern Hills and the Forest of Dean.
