What customers say
This tranquil, rural spot boasts scenic views and wildlife. Spacious pitches, great communal amenities (kitchen, lounge) are appreciated, as is the quiet vibe near Painswick. Some note limited restrooms when busy; managers are improving signage.

Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Great campsite in a quiet, ‘middle of nowhere’ feel location despite Painswick about 0.5mile away. Nice to have an indoor space with plugs , microwave, kettle and fridge. Clean facilities (only 1 shower & toilet ) but not many campers when we were there so worked fine for us! Thank you

Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Beautiful location - cows to one side and idyllic lake to the other. We did a great long walk straight from the campsite and Painswick has a couple of welcoming pubs too!

From the manager: Hello
Thank you for your review. We hope to see you again soon, Katharine.
I had a great stay , 3 nights.
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked The intimacy… only 4 tents allowed. The facilities; shade, seats, kitchen, communal sitting room by the fishing lake.
Disliked As it is a working farm there is a hum of some kind of machinery which comes from the barn but it is very low in tone and you get used to it.

Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Properly of the beaten track, and felt wonderfully contained. Good facilities inc. microwave and big relax room. Throw in the lake and views and it’s just what every campsite should be!

Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked loved the sound of the water bubbling nearby - loved how quiet it was!
the kitchen and indoor seating was fantastic and the toilet shower room was clean and excellent.
Disliked managed to ding my cars skirt on that impossible hair pin bend to get down the road to the campsite!

From the manager: Sorry to hear about your car. If you continued up the road you can turn your car around to then venture down the campsite
Simple but delightful
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Loved the simplicity of the site - only one small field with 4 pitches. Really appreciate that it’s not overly crowded.
Disliked Few amenities - might be nice to have some extra services like bbq, firewood for hire, small honesty bar / shop with milk and other basics

We were originally planning to stay…
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked We were originally planning to stay at Painswick Glamping for just 2 nights, on a trip to visit WWT Slimbridge Wetland. However, we were having such a fun time (despite picking a very rainy few days to visit!) that we decided to stay for an extra night, which was no problem at all!
The campsite is small and peaceful, with only four tent pitches, and we were alone for 2 nights out of our 3 night stay.
The kitchen facilities are super convenient, with a kettle, toaster, fridge, freezer, and plug sockets to charge up your devices. The bathroom is well maintained, with a warm shower.
There is a lovely pond which you can see from your tent, and plenty of birds and wildlife all around.
Would definitely recommend this site for fairly new campers like ourselves.
Painswick is a picturesque village, with some pretty buildings, 2 cafes, 2 pubs, a corner shop, and a little tourist information centre by the church. However, it is very quiet with not much to do in the village itself. I would recommend driving the 15-20 mins to Gloucester or Stroud during your stay if you want to go to a bigger supermarket or do any activities.
Also, WWT Slimbridge is a must visit while in the area if you love birds!
As said in the description, this is a working farm, so expect to hear the cows early in the morning.
Disliked Only warning I would give to future visitors is that the drive down from the town to the site is a very steep hill with a few sharp turns, and a narrow road. Would not recommend for nervous drivers or very large vehicles!
