What customers say
This Peak District campsite offers stunning views & access to Mam Tor. Basic amenities, including clean portaloos & wash-up area. Castleton village nearby. Peaceful atmosphere. Note sloping fields & lack of drinking water/showers, but great for short stays.

Primitive grass campervan campsite
Liked Loved how close it was to Mam tor, the ease of booking, how easy it was to get to and the fact it was in walking distance of castleton town.
Disliked There wasnt much to dislike. It's a stunning campsite, couldn't have asked for better. Only thing that could have just gave it that extra something was showers perhaps.

Remote peaceful campsite with superb surrounding views
Primitive grass campervan campsite
Liked Absolutely gorgeous campsite. 360 degree stunning views, lots of level pitches - few slightly sloping. Beautiful lush grass to walk around barefoot. And so much bird life - swallows everywhere and buzzards circling. You feel in the middle of nowhere yet Castleton village is a 15 minute walk. Easy access to the Mam Tor trailhead with tonnes of walks in every direction. You can see the campsite from the hills and appreciate how remote it is. Toilets are proper flushing and spotless but no drinking water. I stupidly assumed you could still boil a kettle with it but no, this seriously is not drinkable. I would hesitate to wash up dishes with it so make sure you bring your own!!!
Castleton village is a gorgeous little place and the Farm shop at the bottom of the lane from the campsite is a real treat - fantastic food/cakes and they have a large gang of ducks/chickens who wander around completely unfazed by humans/dogs on leads - just watch your food purchases as they do pester you!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked Great place, well looked after. We had an amazing time and it's not the first time we went there. This is because this camping site is one if the best ones. With the owner being reachable and ever so helpful. We had a fire pit in the evening that had made whole experience so much better.

Primitive grass campervan campsite
Liked Fabulous relaxed campsite in a great location. Set in beautiful countryside and only a 20 minute walk into the lovely Castleton. Toilets clean with washing up facilities. No showers but not a problem if you can do without.

A great family campsite
Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked A lovely, peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. Friendly touches (such as the honesty box filled with homemaker goodies, bottles of water, marshmallows, etc). Great that the site permits both bbqs and fires. A very nice environment for our kids first camping experience
Disliked Nothing - everything was as advertised and expected. A great place to camp

Beautiful location but not good for more than one night
Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked Location was excellent and site was not too busy. There was cold running water and one sink to wash up.
View up to Mam Tor and about 30 mins walk to Castleton. Take cash if you plan to use honesty box.
Excellent phone signal!
Disliked Toilets were grim. We knew there’d be no hot water or showers but didn’t expect toilets to be as they were.
No one on site to watch over things on site so a couple of groups of youngsters were up into the early hours being noisy.
