Primitive grass campsite

Liked We was the only people staying on site these 2 days.
The site is very clean and the toilet facilities were adequate it was nice to have a hot shower that stays on rather than repeatedly pressing a button for water.
Made showering much quicker.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked I really enjoyed my solo camp here.
From the warm welcome from the owner to the super clean and well maintained shower block and washing up facilities. The tent pitches had green, newly cut grass. A well maintained site in a beautiful area. Peaceful and relaxing. The drive to the site was beautiful - rolling hills and dry stone walls. Shame I wasn’t staying for longer. Would definitely recommend.

Disliked Nothing to dislike.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Really nice site, trees bordering the field, it is kept very well and clean. The facilities were good. Pretty area and some nice local spots easily (even for our 6 year old) to walk to and back without needing a car. Very quiet guests was nice too!

Disliked Only thing I would say is, during the day I didn’t notice the busy road noise but as soon as I closed my eyes it felt pretty loud. I reached for my earplugs and it was fine though!

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Nice and Peaceful campsite (but then in it September!)! Lovely toilet block and hot showers in the ladies. Nice pub down the road.

Disliked Tepid water for washing up in the sinks, also in the toilet blocks. Very expensive considering there was no electric hook up or hot water. I would pay the same price for electric hook up!

Local attractions

Hikers can soon be out on the Monsal Trail (10 minutes’ drive), which offers spectacular views over Monsal Dale and the viaduct at Monsal Head. Kids will have fun crossing the stepping stones at Chee Dale (20 minutes), where you can all follow the River Wye through its limestone gorge. Alternatively, families may prefer to spend the day on cable-car rides at the Heights of Abraham (35 minutes), take vintage vehicle jaunts from Crich Tramway Village or enjoy dinosaur trails and adventure golf at Gulliver’s Kingdom (both 40 minutes). Peak District National Park culture vultures among you? As well as a farmyard where kids can meet the animals, stately Chatsworth House (20 minutes) is set in Capability Brown-designed parkland and has a fantastic art collection, while largely 12th-century Haddon Hall (25 minutes) is open for tours of its vaulted banqueting hall and formal Elizabethan gardens. The infamous ‘plague village’ of Eyam (five minutes’ drive) is packed with pretty stone cottages and cute tearooms, and there’s a craft centre at the Jacobean-era Eyam Hall. A former spa town, Buxton (25 minutes) has a lively cultural scene and an acclaimed opera house; book ahead for tickets.
